I disagree though. There's books that I think are just as good as the movie (Rules of Attraction, Fight Club, High Fidelity) and movies that I thought were better than the book (American Psycho). It's not always "the book is better." But if you are aware of both, you're going to compare them. haha. Honestly, I just thought the pages of description of his daily regime dragged it down. It was the kind of minutia that translated well to a couple minutes screen time and drove the point home, but seemed to make the book drag in comparison. Some movies may indeed be better than the book, but in most cases it's the opposite. Books can go into much more detail than movies whilst still leaving more room for imagination. American Psycho with its detailed descriptions of how the characters look and what they are wearing is a fine example. Watching the movie without having read the book will leave you much more confused at the end of the movie.
