it would be nice to have the option to do both.

I agree. Especially since the Wii-U can play Wii discs... why would you want to have both taking up inputs on your TV if you can avoid it. But whatever, I have zero interest in the Wii-U anyway.

Good things I've got literally nothing to transfer over to the new system!

Same here. I never bought anything from the virtual console because by the time I bought a Wii, I already had non-virtual consoles for all the old games I wanted.

So even though I knew I was going to get one of these, I never put in a pre order, well here we are a week away and am trying to get a game plan for next Sunday. What stores would be the most likely to have one on hand early Sunday morning? I am thinking of trying Wal-Mart at midnight just to see if they have anything, then trying K-Mart, because, really who goes to K-mart (no offense, just the ones around me are ghost towns)? Anyone else here going to try to hunt one down next sunday?

Some Targets still have a few preorder cards. You might get lucky there. I'm not sure what their system is for preorders though and how well they will actually hold systems since you are just getting a card for a few bucks instead of putting money down on a system. As far as I know they are the only option right now though. Midnight at Walmart might be worth a try since I think they will have a few non-preordered consoles for the launch from what I have heard. I preordered mine there but I am still going to get there early just in case.

lulz. I'm trying not to be too cynical. We have two Wiis and I use them for Netflix 75% of the time and for some lightgun games 25% of the time. My wife plays Wii/GCN games a lot more than I do though, so I can't be a total dick about it. It does get used for games in this house... just not as much by me.

I do. I just went today, actually. I go there to check out their games all the time. They're currently offering a $15 gaming coupon if you spend $45 on any video game(s) right now. I went to mine to check it out and they'd conveniently stocked up on DS games in the $19.99 and under bin 8) . K-mart is usually a good place to go for game stuff as it's usually not the first place that people think of when they're looking for stuff.

Just picked up my wife's necklace and jewelry box I had there on layaway for our anniversay, today.
