and tell me why you like them. It can be a designer who has been around for quite some time like Tetsuya Nomura or you can just talk about that one game that portrayed some of your favorite characters. You can post pictures if you want.

For games, I'll go with Akira Toriyama. Without his aesthetics, Dragon Quest wouldn't be the same. While I've got to admit that a lot of his characters look like each other, the style is just so fun that I don't mind at all.
Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy) has a really great style too. I don't think it comes across in the games, but his illustrations are fantastic.
My girlfriend is a big fan of Akio Watanabe (aka Poyoyon Rock) although none of the games he worked on have ever been translated AFAIK... and they're all super-pervy visual novels/dating sims. This anime opening gives a pretty good idea of his style. I think it's fun.

I don't care for Dragonball, but I love to look at it. Akira Toriyama is a great character designer. So of course, that's part of why I loved Chrono Trigger.
Another great one is Viktor Antonov.

Of course, Yoshitaka Amano is great. His characters are some of my favorite ever, and I like that he's more grounded in painting.
Kojima Ayami is really good too. The stuff she did for the Castlevania series was amazing.

First ones that came to mind are Sonic(whats cooler then a super sonic hedgehog) and John Talbain/Jallon because what is cooler then a martial arts werewolf with numchucks, and I am a bit of a anthro(furry) art fan. And star fox as I am a sci-fi nut, Comander Shepard and Wrex urdnot.

Definitely Edayan!
Props to him for creating most of the Rival Schools characters, some of my favorite fighting game characters of all time!

The character designs for FFT/FFXII and Xenoblade stand out a lot to me.

Katsumi Yokota's work for PD Zwei and PDS is great.
