What games offer up the cheapest deaths?

Re: What games offer up the cheapest deaths?
I actually like the game (probably due to nostalgia) but there are a bunch of "need to memorize" traps in Rick Dangerous. But the first one, starting from the very first level onwards, is really unfair at springing unexpected crap at you. There are some traps that you activate and can dodge if you react really fast, but many of them outright kill you right there for going through the wrong route (and you can only know from having seen it before).
The sequel Rick Dangerous 2 is much better although it still has a few of those it is at an acceptable amount.
Ivo.

That was my problem with the game, sometimes you have to press L+R but they switch around to A+B (In the 360 version it's A+X and it works better since my thumb actually CAN cover them easily but in the Gamecube version you have to hit the middle ground between A and B). It's easy to see that it was made by the company that published and developed Ghosts N' Goblins.AppleQueso wrote:It's pretty bullshit when they change the buttons around on you though.

I thought it was pretty easy that there were only two possibilities..

Rogue and all of its clones. Most of these games are stupidly cheap - the best part of playing is finding the most creative ways to die.
Re: What games offer up the cheapest deaths?
Yeah it's a 50-50 L+R or A+BOnikage wrote:I thought it was pretty easy that there were only two possibilities..
I can see this a problem only in the knife fight against krauser when they throw at you 5 QTE's in 2 minutes.

Re: What games offer up the cheapest deaths?
RE4 is definitely chock full of cheap deaths - I'm playing it now and there is some serious bullshit in this game. I'm at the end of Chapter 5-1 and everything from the enemies you can only kill with the LIMITED AMMO, DIFFICULT TO USE IN CLOSE QUARTERS sniper rifle with infra-red scope to the idiotic truck that crashes into you and kills you without any warning at all, this game just pisses.me.off.
I refuse to give up and be beat though - this game is going down if it's the last thing I do. Fuckin' Capcom...

C'mon dude, you're just not applying yourself, the game is easy even on normal mode. The only hard parts of the game to me were the Krauser fight (I had limited ammo) and the knife fight QTE with him, everything else is easy. If you're talking about that truck that comes down the hill, that's so easy to see coming...I died the first time before I realized what I had to do.Retrogamer0001 wrote:RE4 is definitely chock full of cheap deaths - I'm playing it now and there is some serious bullshit in this game. RE4 has some cheap parts, but I wouldn't call it a crazy difficult game or anything at all.

Re: What games offer up the cheapest deaths?
Actually, I just have limited patience for annoying, unnecessary things in video games. I'm past that part now (at Krauser, oh joy) but I honestly don't see why I have to die once because I'm not sure that a QTE is coming up and I can't react in the 0.2 seconds I get before it's too late. Like I said before, it's easy to avoid the next time around because I know it's coming, but really, it's a pretty stupid gimmick. I'm not complaining that the game is "hard", just stupid at points.Lodestar wrote:C'mon dude, you're just not applying yourself, the game is easy even on normal mode.
