what type of television do you play your classic consoles on
Re: what type of television do you play your classic console
I will note that I see some ghosting when I use my SNES model 2 on any tv. Have you tested your consoles on another TV to confirm it is your TV at fault?

Last I recall it doesn't appear it's the consoles. I tried my RGB to component converter with an LCD before I got the WEGA and it looked completely fine, as well as the Wii, PS2, and original Xbox component. I'll have to try seeing if absolutely everything relating to VM is off in the service menu (VVM and VMGA I'm guessing).
Problem kind of looks like this article: http://www.maximintegrated.com/app-note ... vp/id/3634
except a LOT worse and more noticeable on my set; it juts out quite a bit more (and it's also not composite video encoding). I'll have to check everything when I get back (currently away from the TV ATM) and investigate if I can adjust something like this for component in the service menu (CBPF, YDEL, UOFS, VOFS seem like good suspects). I have to say everything you told me so far has been extremely helpful Zing, since exactly a year ago from now when I first started looking into all this, so thanks! Appreciate it.

Nope, nothing like that on my TV. Rock solid. Just using default Movie profile with the Picture setting turned down a bit.
Older. Not wiser.

Currently using a Philips 20" CRT. It works alright. Has some issues though. When I have the money to upgrade I will. I'd like to get one of those nice Sony PVMs.

I refuse to play retro games on anything other than a CRT. I hate the blurry look LCDs give off to non-HD content. I'm currently using a Panasonic HD CRT for everything last-gen and older, plus Wii.

Sometimes the rear projection one. Sometimes the little one below. Retro consoles generally do look better in the little one. I also have a 24" CRT in my bedroom, but I don't use it much at all. It does have s-video and component, so retro consoles look great on it. I just don't have the space to have it in my living room with my games.

I have the same model rear projection. It is actually very good for 480i sources. PSone looks perfectly fine. These TVs have almost no input lag and the scaling on 720p panels is vastly superior for 480i input.

But the best part? It was $25 at Salvation Army last month.Zing wrote:I have the same model rear projection. It is actually very good for 480i sources. PSone looks perfectly fine. These TVs have almost no input lag and the scaling on 720p panels is vastly superior for 480i input.

Good find Breetai.
I never see any good TV sets at my local Salv army, but sometimes I get some good finds from the Goodwill down the road.

I'm currently using a Coby 40" HDTV due to lack of space. It's actually pretty good. I was suprised how good NES looks on it. But I have a Sharp 25" CRT with S-Video that I prefer to use for older consoles.
