Question about DC books:

I follow Justice League, and I noticed that there's a short story about Steve Trevor at the end of the current issue. It states "To be continuted in Justice League of America #1"

Are they canning Justice League and starting a new book called JLofA?

They're printing both.

I hope so. I've been getting caught up on Justice League and it's pretty good. The guy who owns my local comic shop says it's his best seller too(among DC titles), so I can't imagine DC cancelling it.

Justice League is one of the most disappointing books in the entire New 52 relaunch. It has Geoff Johns writing it and Jim Lee drawing it so it should be an absolute knock-out of a comic. Jim Lee is one of my all time favorite artists and Geoff Johns is my #1 favorite comic book writer. Yet despite that, the stories are bland, generic, and uninspired. It's almost as if they're trying to kiddie-down the stories. I've hated it. And I've been buying Justice League comics since just before Superman died in the 90s on a regular basis, and still buy back-issues. So I'm not just bashing it because it's DC Comics or the JLA, I'm both a DC Comics & a JLA fan and have been for years.

The stories also don't line-up with current continuity, either. Hal Jordan hasn't been using a GL ring since New 52 relaunched a year ago (at least not without Sinestro around him to "create" one for him), yet he's been a mainstay member. How does that work? If the stories were worthy of the names Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, I could overlook these things, but unfortunately, they aren't.

dont forget pouches. 90s comics had lots of pouches, especially if Leifeld was on pencils. Oh and no wrists, or feet.

I've been wanting to get back into comics a bit lately, and don't feel like spending $50+ a week on single issues anymore. I've decided that trade paperbacks are the way to go, but I haven't read anything in roughly six months. Can anyone recommend any good recent trade paperbacks? I'm planning on heading out tomorrow to pick some stuff up.

I would say try amazon since you can find lots of cheap second hand trades.

The new TMNT series is fairly new and a lot of fun.

Hack/Slash is also a fantastic series that keeps its trades and omnibus in print continually.

If you don't care about collecting, and all you want to do is read them. Then digital is really the cheapest way to go. They always have big sales and incentives, and both Marvel and DC Comics have a massive digital comics libraries including graphic novels and singles. Not sure how the smaller comic companies digital libraries are.

Well, I'm not as familiar with Geoff's previous work. I just know I had a stack of Justice League comics lying around going back to issue # 6 and recently read through them all in succession up to the current issue and I enjoyed them. I guess i don't have a basis for comparison with his previous work. Graves was kind of a lame villain though. His motivations just kept changing over and over again

I will say though, the best stuff I've personally been reading from the New 52 is Snyder's work on Batman and Swamp Thing, and Lemire's work on Animal Man. I've also really enjoyed Tomasi's Batman and Robin. There's other stuff I like too, like Nightwing, Birds of Prey and Batgirl, but they've been a little hit and miss(see my previous rant on Batgirl # 12). Even Fables from Vertigo, which I loved for a long time has been kind of going downhill in my opinion

My favorite comic right now is still something not from DC, Angel & Faith. One has to be a Buffy/Angel fan to really enjoy that though

DC actually cares about it more than most companies. That's why they keep having Crisises, to clean up loose ends and tighten up continuity.

DC actually cares about it more than most companies. That's why they keep having Crisises, to clean up loose ends and tighten up continuity.

Yeah, but they're basically fixing continuity by erasing it. It's just retconning on a grand scale. I understand why they do it, but if someone just did that to something I've followed for years (like erasing five years of Buffy/Angel), I'd probably be a pissed off fan.

Don't get me wrong, I like the New 52, but I'm not one of those types of fans I was referring to. For me, the New 52 was a nice way in as someone who hadn't followed DC comics for years.
