I was going to comment about the option of "Criminal record." I believe that only applies to a felony. I have 2 misdemeanors and I can vote
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

You mean the illusion that our democracy functions properly. Right?...
Representative democracy is currently the best form of governance on the planet. If it doesn't work, then we have no one to blame but ourselves...

Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't. Accordingly - in a representative democraxcy - you always end up with the government you deserve.

Which says absolutely nothing...

Too many hollow promises...

Not enough power to those who really want to change things, because...

Too many people behind the scenes taking care of their own interests...

Simply put, the factor that makes democracy not work is, the human factor...

The electoral college has nothing to do with the fact that humans are bastards. Representative democracy does the best job of not giving any one bastard too much power. Ideally we would get a nano-augmented agent to merge his consciousness with an advanced AI so that we could just have mathematically fair government.

Have you ever stood and stared at it, marveled at its beauty, its genius? Billions of people just living out their lives, oblivious. Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world, where none suffered, where everyone would be happy? It was a disaster. No one would accept the program, entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world, but I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through misery and suffering. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to be a democracy, the peak of your civilization.
