Video Editing Tools

Post by ZeroAX »

hi guys. i want to do some video reviews and wanted to start with a game boy game. since it would look kind of crap trying to record a ggame boy screen i'm using visual boy advanc record avi option and the thing is the only codec that works is the full frame mode that takes like 300mbytes for 1 minute of gameplay. so can you offer any advice on a good video compress program? i tried divx but it looks crap after i compress it.

You could try xvid or mpeg?

It ultimately depends on what the quality to size ratio you want to achieve, small size videos are going to look terrible on the other hand nice quality videos are going to be large files.

Another consideration is if you are going to put them on a website. If that's the case then you're going to want to use a widely used codec otherwise people just aren't going to want to download extra software just to watch your reviews.

Also you're probably going to want convert it into FLV as well so that users can just stream the video. Or you can just get Youtube to host it for you.

VisualBoyAdvance lets you pick a video codec to use. If I were you, I'd record the clips to huffyuv, then when I'm editing them together for the review, I'd export into divx or xvid. Divx will look just fine if you adjust the settings to your liking.
