So I got stuck into Pokémon Puzzle Challenge today. I beat it on Normal, although I had to use a continue. I only had 4 of 9 possible pokémon, so I guess I have to figure out how to unlock the others.
There seems to be quite a lot more to do here aswell. Besides the Challenge mode, which I beat, there's also the usual marathon mode, puzzle mode, line clear mode and garbage mode. Guess it should keep me occupied for a bit then!

No doubt. It took me until earlier this year to finally get the last Pokemon I needed, after around ten years of having the game. It's hard.alienjesus wrote:So I got stuck into Pokémon Puzzle Challenge today. I beat it on Normal, although I had to use a continue. alright. I tried to emulate for a while. SFC. Just left everything default. 11:59 was my time. 4,102 was my score. Still don't think it's all that fun, though. It's weird, I think of myself as a puzzle game fan. I just can't seem to enjoy this one all that much.

I have Pokemon Puzzle League on Virtual Console, though my mom boght it and she's the one that plays it most. If I have the money, I might buy her a Game Boy Color and Puzzle Challenge for her birthday so she can stop hogging the Wii.

Re: Together Retro: Panel De Pon/Puzzle League/Tetris Attack
I have Tetris Attack for SNES, and really enjoy the game. When I first found my cart, I remember thinking this game was actually related somehow to Tetris. I was delightfully surprised when I saw the Nintendo menus/themes running thick through the game.

That was a really nice discovery. It's an extremely stylish title, overall.
I've been on the hunt for a Poke'mon Puzzle League cart, and as a GCN fanboy, Nintendo Puzzle Collection just looks too good to be true. Maybe I'll push myself to explore these games this month as well. Probably not though, considering the hassle of getting my GCN ready to play imports in time, but it is very tempting at this point.

You can play import gamecube games easily with a hacked wii if you've got one. Datel's action replay/sdloader/region free disc works great for the regular 'cube if you have any of that.Nintendork666 wrote:League cart, and as a GCN fanboy, Nintendo Puzzle Collection just looks too good to be true. Yoshi is the pure personification of hate.pierrot wrote:'Just exectute at all times, don't make mistakes and play perfectly. It's that simple.' 'Oh is it that simple, now, Mr. Yoshi? I wasn't even aware that you spoke, let alone with the tenor of a game developer.'
I have played the game for a while and I can't wrap my head around it, something seems off. After thinking about it for a while, it seems like I'm expecting the blocks to replenish, to have the screen always covered, and there's no real reason why. Let's see if I can get over it.

Maybe it's the blocks coming from the bottom rather than the top?General_Norris wrote:I have played the game for a while and I can't wrap my head around it, something seems off. This game is a bit too lumbering and methodical for me, as a chaining, vanishing, block puzzler, I think; sort of the way I'm not too in to Critter Crunch or Puyo Puyo. (Although Fever dials up the insanity a little bit.) I'm just too used to games like Super Puzzle Fighter or Lumines as my drug of choice in this sub-genre. Personally more of a fan of the deliberate gameplay in puzzlers more in the vein of Cogs.

Oh god, I suck
My scores:

Normal: 0:43:19, 1 continue
I've only played each mode once mind, but still got a long long way to go
