GOG has sounded interesting, but since I primarily do my PC gaming in Mac OS X, I haven't paid it much attention. Now I might start looking for games there.

I think their parody of pretentious Apple ads has been their funniest marketing stunt yet.

Re: GOG.com goes Mac
Why couldn't they do this back when I had a Mac? I would think they could do this a lot sooner considering most of their games are just DOSbox, which has a Mac version. Oh well. It's a moot point now because I have a new laptop running Windows 7.

Re: GOG.com goes Mac
To quote a buddy of mine on another website:
Though I don't use a Mac, and don't foresee myself using one in the foreseeable future, I am always glad to see gaming made more accessible across all platforms.

Re: GOG.com goes Mac
This is not really going "mac"
these are Dos games played on an emulator put in a package. Not sure why they didnt do this earlier on.
I think most retro mac games wont make it to the Mac platform because of the different architecture used back in retro days (2006 and earlier was IBM PowerPC, now Intel) . Also current gen games are available on Steam and App Store, so GoG has no real advantage over here except for the DRM free stuff, which I am not sure if they will be too successful implementing it on recent games.
but no reason to complain really, the more the merrier . I wonder if there is like laws where you can not emulate DOS, Microsoft probably want some piece of that cake .

There's nothing illegal about emulators.kingmohd84 wrote: but no reason to complain really, the more the merrier . I wonder if there is like laws where you can not emulate DOS, Microsoft probably want some piece of that cake .

I'm happy to see this, though as others have said, this isn't really "going Mac" in the true sense of the phrase. Either way, I use a Mac and run a small number of games on it, mostly casual stuff, plus Civ 4 which is starting to turn into a vicious addiction. If they make more games available for my platform, I'll be sure to support them. Even if it's just because I'm too lazy to go into Parallels every time I want to play a game.

Now some Interplay games are supported. So buy into the bundle while you can. Right now 12 of the 32 are supported, in time all will be. And several of these are not dosbox based - ie MDK and Fallout.
Re: GOG.com goes Mac
How well do they run on a Mac? Will definitely buy into this if they work well. Freespace 2 on Mac without Parallels would be a dream come true.
