Well i finally did it after years of weighting the pro and cons of buying a famicom, and being the collector iam i wouldnt have been able to play them on any thing other then a jp Famicom. I am now stalking the mail lady daily, waiting for it's arrival.
So with all that said i was wondering if i could get a little help with any platformers, that were never released here in the states. only one i have coming in the mail right now is goonies. I know there has to be few out there worth picking up good or bad i ll play anything even if its for a good laugh.
Any good Famicom only platformers
Re: Any good Famicom only platformers
Mr. Gimmick is supposedly amazing (I haven't played it but that's the unanimous verdict of the game from what I've seen pretty much everywhere). From what I played, Moon Crystal is also a really good choice. The gameplay as well as the animation is really fluid and the music is awesome.
The Japanese version of Castlevania III also has an extra sound chip inside which adds extra sound channels for the music and the results are simply astounding! The difficulty is also apparently less frustrating than the US version as well (which is interesting as the Jap version is technically the original version of the game).

Gimmick is really great, and I'd also agree with Moon Crystal and Akumajou Densetsu (CVIII). I'd also recommend the two Wai Wai World titles, Armadillo, the Wagyan Land games, Layla, Bio Senshi Dan, Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula Kun!, Atlantis no Nazo, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, Getsu Fūma Den, Hebereke, Holy Diver, Miracle Ropit's Adventure In 2100, Mitsume ga Tooru, and I'm sure there are several I'm missing.
Tons of great titles to be had, enjoy!

Most of the really good platformers were released in USA as well, so there's not that many good JP-exclusive ones in my opinion. Lots of bad/mediocre ones, though. Boku Dracula, Moon Crystal and Holy Diver are certainly worth checking out, though Moon Crystal has dumb boss fights.

I going to get a list going and start looking out for these games in my day to day internet rumaging/ price comparing. Thanks for all the help so far, I already started watching game play videos on these games to start prioritizing must haves.

Gimmick isn't a Famicom exclusive, it was also released on the NES. It's alot cheaper to buy for Famicom though.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

True. It was released in Scandinavia only during 1992. Which means it's horribly expensive and you need an European console to play it.

It also has less sound channels.
