Best Picture Quality on SNES.

So several questions I have from reading this:

1) Is it true that ALL SNES consoles within a serial number range "between UN318299752 and UN321238373" have the 1CHIP?
2) Regarding post #6, is it true that the second revision of the 1CHIP (1CHIP-02 versus 01 and 03) really eliminates the vertical bar or does the revision actually not even matter?

Definitely looking into the SNES mini option as well (with RGB) but that is definitely a much more expensive route.

People have reported seeing the bar with a mini, so no, the 1 chip design does not eliminate the problem.

The output from my model 2 SNES is terrible. It's overdriven to the point where it causes ghosting on bright scenes. I've tested it on everything from an old CRT to a new LCD. I'd be interested to see if this is limited to mine, but I'm not concerned enough to acquire another one, since I wouldn't use it anyway.

The composite output on my model 1 is fairly poor. It's dark and reddish. The s-video output is fine, though. I have one of the original, heavy models with the separate sound board inside. Not sure what board revision or encoder it uses.

That sounds odd, the SNES mini has a reputation for excellent composite video and mine is no exception. Perhaps yours has a capacitor issue?

The output is simply brighter and possibly less red than my older SNES. Initially, I thought it looked "better", but then I compared it to my old SNES and other systems and it is simply more white and bright.

Composite on my old SNES is fairly warm (reddish), but I didn't notice until I switched to s-video.
