Pretty funny here in Ann Arbor getting some nice gusts, no rain yet. Power's flickered a bit. I had my fair share of hurricanes when I lived in Northern Virginia and Eastern Carolina. Isabel certainly comes to mind, considering it was my senior year in high school in Virginia when that beauty wrecked us. Hope everyone is safe and well. About four million are without power, 200 patients are being evacuated from a NYC hospital, a power plant in NYC exploded, several buildings in both Queens and Brooklyn are on fire, few tall buildings and apartments in New York and New Jersey are torn apart, and a Nuclear Power plant may have a meltdown within the next 36 hours fi their power does not come back.

So far, 13 have been killed because of Sandy.

I'm ten minutes from you and we've been getting some strong winds as well. Lots of people in Toledo are without power from what I've heard.

No power outage or any issues here besides a few fallen tree branches. Hope everyone is safe.

I think some of the Hurricane Sandy pics people have sent around might have been photoshopped.

It's gotten pretty crazy. I really hope it doesn't get any worse.

10:05 PM EDT: New York authorities say there is flooding in two major commuter tunnels as well as subway stations and tracks.

On the plus side, the New York subways have been overdue for a good cleaning for at least a couple decades.

I'm often surprised at the relatively few deaths during natural disasters. Not that I'm hoping more people will die, it just seems like what looks like a block or two of Brooklyn on fire could account for 13 deaths on its own.

I'm assuming you're referring to this power plant, which is the only one I saw reference to.

Which says they have 2 weeks of fuel for backup generators. I think if there was something worse going on there would be more stories going on about it. Sounds like some hysterical tweet was being passed around or something.

Hopefully this will cut down on the insane rat population there. From what I've heard the rats attack people at subway stations late at night and when I was out there I would hear the rats shuffling around late at night everywhere I went.

I should give my sister a call and see how she's holding up since she lives in Harlem and works in SoHo I think.
