I'm looking to upgrade from a 20" to a 24" or 27"
The resolutions between the 24s and 27s are the same on the Dells, so there isn't a huge advantage.
Once thing I've heard about ones bigger than that is that it makes you neck a bit sore when using it on a PC because you have to move your head around to see all the parts of the screen.

It is all relevant to how far back you are sitting from your screen.

You decide?

It's a no brainer that you're not going to want a 32 inch monitor if you are sitting right up close to it.

I have a 30 inch monitor in my bedroom that doubles as my TV running at 2560X1600. When laying in bed I'm about 9 or 10 feet from it. It's almost perfect for TV viewing I'd say.

I triple monitor as well, so I also have 2 21 inch monitors on the left and right of the 30 inch screen. I don't think I'll ever be able to go to a smaller screen from this again. This thing allows me to do so much work it is awesome! BUT I don't think I'll ever be going to larger, this is a whole lot of screen to be looking at. The only reason it works out is due to the high resolution. But I haven't seen any monitors that go higher then 2560X1600, or video cards that put out higher then that as well. Any bigger and this resolution would start looking clunky with its text and everything.

Man it sucks when I try to play older games. Like I got Risk2 for the PC, and it maxes out at some ridiculously low reesolution... it just looks awful on this screen when I play it. I wouldn't dare want to see it any larger.

if you've got the computing power to run at the nice high resolutions those monitors are capable of then definetly! My machine isn't good enough and I don't have the money so I get by with a 20inch wide wuxga lcd (1680x1050)

Anything over 22" is overkill for desktops imo, but hey it's your money.

I have a 28", i got it cheap, but honestly its overkill. I have my dreamcast, 360 and laptop connected to it. No tv tuner built in so I can't hookup my old consoles to it (much to my disappointment)

I bought a 24" widescreen Dell monitor last month and I wouldn't go bigger for a PC monitor because of the distance one usually sits, but definetly would never go back to a smaller monitor. Be sure to get one with lots of inputs, I really don't watch that much tv so I don't miss not having tv tuner and there are like 6 tvs in my house already. Its a good investment no doubt about it. I hook up dreamcast vga and the xbox and ps2 component and they look amazing. Wish I had a monitor like this at work, the little 17" and the laptop screen make my eyes hurt.
