Lol, that's ridiculous.

As the article pointed out, top line iPad games and all that other crap are only half as good as the average full-price console game.

What it failed to point out is that there have been handheld game systems which have been trying for years to do full-price console game quality gaming and they haven't managed to hit that mark yet. Why the hell would glorified phones and other hipster tech be able to figure it out?

Slow website is slow. That bandwagon has been around for quite a while.

Dedicated gaming consoles are already dead. Gone are the days where a console would play games and do nothing else. When I turn on my Xbox 360 I'm greeted by a "dashboard", which mostly consists of bullshit. I've known people who bought a PS3 solely to watch Blu-Ray movies.

It wouldn't surprise me if game consoles are eventually marketed as all-in-one "media machines." I think the Vita and 3DS may be the last handhelds we see.

What's new? I've been hearing people saying this for a few years now. Yeah, console gaming may not be as popular as it once was, but it's far from dead.

What's funny, though, is that even though modern consoles may not be as big anymore, retro-consoles, collecting, and emulating has been getting more popular than ever. To me that says that the people are still hungry for gaming, they just aren't too keen on what modern companies are giving them.

Not counting hand helds or addons (and the list is missing some consoles, like the Jaguar, Amiga CD32 and Neo Geo)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_be ... e_consoles
Generation
2:2600 30+7800 3.77+Intellivision 3+Odyssey 2 2+Colecovision 2=40.77
3:NES 61.91+SMS 10-13=71.91-74.91
4:MD/GEN 40+SNES 49.10+TG/PC-E 10+3DO 2+=101
5:PS1 102.49+N64 32.9+Sat 9.5=144.89
6:PS2 153.6+Xbox 24+GC 21.74+DC 10.6=199.34
7: Wii 97.18+360 70+PS3 63.9=231.08

But that list doesn't tell how many people bought PS2 for DVDs or PS3 for blurays or 360 for watching movies and so on.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box
