I'm playing through Silent Hill 1, and it isn't scaring me. At all. The radio static that's supposed to be so scary actually makes it even less so for me - it means I don't have to wonder if enemies are lurking nearby. I can know easily, and then hunt them down. In fact, I've been running about town killing everything I can find. It's a fun game but the creepiness is completely overblown.

I see posts like this about games with a cult following and I can't help but wonder what mindset the person had going into playing it. Did you actually expect it to be the scariest thing you ever played in your entire life, to completely live up to all the hype and expectation you'd let yourself have for it? Not gonna happen, never does with anything.

Or do you not play horror games in general, and went into this ready to denounce it for not being the one horror game that you actually found 'scary'?

That said, if you're just running around shooting everything you're gonna be in for a bit of a wake up call when you realize that ammo is finite.

Scary / survival horror games should always be played on the hardest difficulty.

Make it hard to survive. You know...

This too.

Don't mean to try and 'analyze' your motivations or anything Boring, IDK just something about the way you worded your post seemed a bit off to me. I mean to me it'd be like someone playing F-Zero X and being like "I don't get any sense of speed at all."

The real problem is that Silent Hill is a PS1 game and the aged graphics just aren't going to leave the same impression now as they did in the past.

I'm seriously considering purchasing a few hens. Easy to take care of, very social animals, plus fresh eggs.

Only thing I would have to worry about would be a chicken coup.

My parents have chickens. They're relatively easy to take care of, but you can't be the type of person who can't stand touching crap. Also, make sure there are NO roosters in your flock. Not even one. They will wreck the eggs, rough up the hens, and crow all the time. They sometimes even crow in the middle of the night.
