National Amusements indeed. Pretty sickening stuff and we're just starting to scratch the surface. It's over, but it isn't.

That is just disgusting. Their response to the allegations is appalling. When you supply a never ending amount of free alcohol in order to get extreme, uninhibited reactions out of people, you shouldn't then be able to try to defend yourself by saying "[She] was frequently intoxicated..." That kind of s*#& shouldn't be able to fly, signed waiver or not.

Stories like this piss me off just as much as all the recent stories about how politicians are trying to "re-define" rape. Granted, some of these also relate to the issue of abortion, so I'll spoil this handy diagram and you can choose to skip over it if you want. I don't want to derail your thread, Luke.

Quite alright Michi.

The "She dressed like a slut so she deserved it" shit makes me sick. I know people who work with Viacom productions who feel ashamed because of how this has been handled. Not only have crew members constantly covered up for cast mates, there is no doubt that crew members have been suppliers for the cast of multiple shows. It's disgusting.

Turning off the camera and smoking a doobie is one thing, taping rape or unwanted penetration and then saying "she was asking for it" is unforgivable.

Sadly, I think most Americans would side with MTV with the "they're all attention whores anyway" ideology.

Attention whores or not, she was unconscious, which negates any of their pathetic attempts at reasoning. I don't care if she was skipping around the house naked and doing an aboriginal mating dance seconds before she passed out. One cannot give consent once unconscious. And to know that there were people there that watched and taped it and then didn't do anything about it and tried to ignore it? Those are morally bankrupt actions that shouldn't and cannot be defended.

Viacom is sweeping this one under the rug, big time.

As Kevin Nealon impersonating Arnold once said, "Heee-yah me now, andduh lizzen to me laterh" this could go domino effect, but won't since Viacom will continue to settle. I think, again think, that Viacom will try to squash it all.

It's either that, or Viacom makes a dime off of this. Without any hesitation I can say that Viacom could end up profiting from this for reserving the rights to a "tell all".

We're singing the same hymn.

My gut says this will be profitable to Viacom. Lose a million, secure being back in the black by licensing. No way under God's green Earth is Viacom letting a "tell all" without part ownership.

It's sickening.

It is sickening. I agree. It's the kind of thing that makes you think about letterbombing something.

I mean, you don't, because, that would be just as wrong, but it makes you think about it.

Sage advice from Mr. Colbert. I doubt they'll listen though.

Several people on facebook posted an image that summed up my feelings pretty well:

This is just sad. I can't believe that not a single one of these guys stepped up in her defense. Someone, should have been kicking their ass. Even the bullying while she was clearly not fighting back is disgusting. Just because you make a living by playing around on MTV Doesn't mean you can't act like an adult. My wife used to watch those challenges, so I unfortunately used to watch them as well and they were ridiculously cruel to Tanya. She has problems but that is hardly an excuse to abuse her. I think criminal charges should be forthcoming.
