Moonrise Kingdom - loved every minute of this, some excellent performances all-round, and some wonderful framing and composition from the director throughout. This is the second Wes Anderson film I've seen (the other being the Life Aquatic, which I enjoyed immensely), and he just seems to have this intoxicating vibe to his films, a sense of the quirky and the slightly weird that seems to pervade every scene. Highly recommended.

The Great Silence - while Sergio Corbucci is remembered mostly for Django, it's The Great Silence that stands out as his masterpiece in the Spaghetti Western genre. Jean-Louis Trintignant does a great job as the mute bounty hunter Silence, and Klaus Kinski steals the show as maniacal bandit leader Loco, but the real stars are the unique and unconventional western setting of a snow-laden Utah deep in the grip Winter, some exquisite cinematography and another wonderful score from the master, Ennio Morricone.

Get your paws on more Wes Anderson films. You won't be disappointed.

By CROM! If I had the keys to the Conan car, I'd play up Conan's age. The last we saw of him he was slouching on a throne Death Adder style, no? If he does have long locks, make them grey paired with a long beard. Make him somewhat of a miserable being who lusts for a challenge, but has been king for so long that no one has gone against his word in decades.

He could be a tyrant having his minions do his dirty work, but when Conan decides to rise from his throne he means business. I'd rather not see Arnie on a horse roaming the desert as a one man army.

Watched FRIGHT NIGHT last night. That goes in noise's thread.

I saw Resident Evil, the original. It sat a middle point where it was too bland to care for but not bad enough to complain, it's the perfect filler

Also: Showing your nipples is the best defense against zombies. True fact.

Vaughn is out, Singer is in for X-Men.

edit* DIE HARD 5 (that's what I'm calling it) has been pushed forward to a Feb. 14th release date. Because, ya know, every girl can't wait for their Valentine's date of fast food and going to see Die Hard 5.

I guess the reasoning is single dudes won't have anything better to do.

My wife loved DIE HARD 4 and I'm betting she wouldn't mind a Valentine's veiwing of 5.

I can't blame her. Die Hard 4 was remarkably - and unexpectedly - awesome.

One day I really need to sit down and try and get past the absurd hacker bullshit and actually give Die Hard 4 a fair watch.
