so much for 10mbs
This is what I do not understand, I swear the torrents are as fast as advertised from my ISP.
Is that a cable internet 10mpbs? Understand that with a cable internet connection, you and other users in your area are connected to a single "neighborhood" node of sorts, meaning from that one node, you share a single connection, and your speed will be affected by the demands put onto that one node by the other users, so if someone is streaming, torrenting, or doing something that puts a load on that node at the same time as you, you'll be experiencing a slower speed. I don't know how network conditions are outside of the US.

C-, wow, my internet sucks.
I don't understand, my d/l is as 11 something, and yours is 3 something and my upload is nearly double yours, yet you have a higher grade than I do. What am I missing here?

It certainly is, and if that's bad enough, they have some pretty strict bandwidth caps (if you can reach them) and I believe speeds are still throttled during certain times of the day.ninjainspandex wrote:hughsnet isnt that satellite internet? i had that when i was a teen living with my parents, oh my god was it terrible i used to play world of warcraft with 1000ms ping every day, not sure why i put up with it guess because its all we could get.

wow that makes sense now i remember waking up in the middle of the night to play just because the ping would dip down to like 400-500 still horrible but somewhat playable. i always wondered why the ping varied during the day vs the late nightExedExes wrote:It certainly is, and if that's bad enough, they have some pretty strict bandwidth caps (if you can reach them) and I believe speeds are still throttled during certain times of the day.ninjainspandex wrote:hughsnet isnt that satellite internet? i had that when i was a teen living with my parents, oh my god was it terrible i used to play world of warcraft with 1000ms ping every day, not sure why i put up with it guess because its all we could get.

its something called Wiimax. They give you a device that looks like a router and it connects to the internet like your cellphone connects to 3g. Look at the picture.ExedExes wrote:Is that a cable internet 10mpbs?
