Wavebird Help

Hey, I've got a Wavebird controller and everything about it works fine, but my left trigger has what appears to be dried maple syrup (my friend gave me this) and it causes a lot of unnatural resistance. Any tips on how to fix this?

Get a tri-wing screwdriver from the Racketboy store or your local cell phone parts place. Open it up carefully. Clean the goo with alcohol and paper towels/q-tips. Let it dry. Put it back together.

Or get it to someone who can do it for you that tinkers with console stuff.

the hard part is finding the right screwdriver. I do believe its called tri-wing.

google it.

Once you open it get a slightly damp paper towel and wipe down the plastic parts. The trigger and where the plastic connects to the controler.

You're obviously arent gonna wet the whole thing, but you can slightly wet some plastic parts and air dry it when your done.

You may as well clean the rest of the controler while you're at it.

D pads can get all kinds of gunk under it, as well as the face buttons.

Just buy some 90% Isopropol alcohol and a computer air duster. Dump a small ammount of Iso on and in the area ( try to keep it localized to the contact areas so the problem doesn't spread), shake it up/out, press the trigger a bunch and use the air duster to dry it inside-and-out. Repeat if necessary. The iso can also clean the entire outer surface with a cloth.

It worked on my friend's root-beer saturated 360 controller, and my other friend's guiness-beer destroyed laptop keyboard which couldn't be easily opened.

If just on the plastic and the contact is not affected, maybe try Anapan's method first? Even more common 70% alcohol is fine. Hold the Wavebird upside down in a way that the alcohol does not drip inside. Just get the trigger wet and press it a few times, followed by the can of air AFTER wiping off the excess alcohol. You don't want to push the syrup into the trigger contacts.

Hey, thanks for the tips. Would Radio Shack be a place that would carrier the Tri-wing screwdriver?

Dunno if radio shack does, but Amazon has them for cheap. I bet Home Depot would too. They're much more common than the gamebit security bits.

Well, it's a free wavebird. I don't care that it has syrup as long as i can clean it up. I found it at radio shack, surprisingly though.
