Re: Poll: who are you voting for this year?
Watched the 3rd party debate. Was kind of disappointed. Wasn't much of a debate, just an hour of them all stating their positions. Say what you want about the R/D debates, but they at least get a little more into the details, and feel like two people debating instead of campaigning.

I would love to see the Governor General come on TV, assert the Queen's right to rule over Canada and start to declare a bunch of horrible laws, then go "Just fucking with you Canada".Breetai wrote: I would hire Jessie Ventura to body slam the Queen's Governor General, expel the British monarchy from Canada, and name me the new King of Kanada!

I would re-Christen the Canadian Dollar as the "PC Engine". That way, when I demand taxes from my citizens, I could say things like "you owe me one million PC Engines this year." Tax season would be renamed "The Mega Drive." The day I am crowned king would be known as "The Genesis." My political system would not be known as democracy; but instead, as "The Master System." Skates, the official equipment of our national sport of ice hockey, would be now known as "blades of steel." Our entire air force would be replaced with Vic Vipers.
This would be a good land indeed!

As I type I'm having a "Phillip Banks For Judge" yard sign being made by Kinko's.

It's almost funny, not trolling. Banks for Judge, Palpatine for Senator, the governor for Governor (it's a pop culture ref), and I vote for a President whoever he is that will take me out for a burger.elmagicochrisg wrote:Trolling at its best... lolLuke wrote:As I type I'm having a "Phillip Banks For Judge" yard sign being made by Kinko's.

I feel very pessimistic about America's future. I'm not sure it really matters who is our next chief. I think the US is in for some tough times no matter what we do (mostly economically, I'm not going to pretend to understand what's going on half the world over).
Also, I doubt that any of the candidates can really relate to me better than another. The fact that they are in this position means that they live in a completely different world than I do. But maybe that's not really important anyway.
Furthermore, I kind of take the "Hitchhikers Guide" view on the president's role.
That all said, I WILL vote.
I'm registered independent and not sharing my choice (even on this poll

Re: Poll: who are you voting for this year?
I've seen it. If someone TRULY needs government help, they sure as hell shouldn't be looking and acting like that man was. Its bullshit. My family is right above the line for getting any government help, and I can't help but get pissed.AppleQueso wrote:Please, you've never actually seen anyone do this and you know it. When I see someone in a brand new car that weighs over two hundred pounds, wearing clothes that cost more than all of the clothing in my closet, come into Micky D's and buy two burgers and a coke with a wellfare card, I can't help but get pissed. There's no reason for that.elmagicochrisg wrote:

I've grown up around these welfare recipient types my entire life. Trust me, they do not live the kind of high life you seem to believe they do.
And, I will say, I have a horrible time explaining my reasoning.

Neither of the main candidates interest me at all so I'm just not voting.
Re: Poll: who are you voting for this year?
Better to vote for a third party candidate than not vote at all. Or write in your own nominee to let your disenchantment shine through. If you're going to do the write-in though, be sure to make it something clever, so at the very least some poor vote counter can get a chuckle out of it.Octopod wrote:Neither of the main candidates interest me at all so I'm just not voting.
