why are there only 3 genres?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

For point and clicks and what not, you know?
Wait... isnt that what we already do at these forums - point-and-click?
Plus, it's always an adventure when I visit racketboy's forums.
yep, i have been playing racketboy's point and click adventure quite often lately. it is distracting me from my other games damnit!

I only put in ones that people used....
i see... how long ago was that though. surely the site has grown since then. i know that have the time if i search something on google related to previous gen games your site pops up, so i assume it gets quite a bit of traffic. I am kinda suprised noone posted in it. there have been a lot of platformers over the years, and some very influential ones.

how about atleast adding a forum called "other genres" like you have for systems. then we could discuss games that werent fighters, shmups, or rpgs. though i enjoy the occasional shooter or fighter, my interest lay primarily with rpgs and platformers. and i dont see how you can have a proper discusiion on retro gaming without talking about platformers.
Most of the traffic checks the front page for articles and never actually enters the forums, and among those that do, many never post. Plus, while there are lots of registered people, I don't think Racket deletes old accounts very often, as some of those guys haven't posted in a year. The crowd on here fluctuates, and guys you see a lot of today might not be coming back in a month for various reasons. Of most f the users on right now, only a handful registered before 2008, and many of them post sporadically.

only a handful before 2008?
Most of our big members are from 2005 and 2006.
A few have disappeared, but most everybody sticks around.
Getting the new members involved is the trick.

And actually, I delete accounts quite regularly. We'd have much higher member counts otherwise.
If somebody doesn't activate their account withing a couple of months, I'll delete it.
I'll also delete zero-post accounts after a while.

Well shoot, guess I should pay more attention then.

It's just lately I hadn't been seeing a lot of folks from older accounts. I know they get busy from time to time and will come and go, but with all the new folks running around, I suppose I got a bit sidetracked with it. Oh well, cool.

When someone wants to discuss a game from a gender that isn't in the gender specific forums they'll just put it in their respective console forum

...what a great joke.

I'd love to see a survival horror board, but there's no way I'm getting it. So I'll be happy to stick to my fighters.
