Great episode of Once Upon a Time last Sunday, with some nods to Game of Thrones, and the Nikita season 3 premiere kicked all kinds of ass. 2012 has been a great year for TV and gaming.
It's kind of fascinating the number of fantasies, fairy tales, mythology and Disney characters Once Upon a Time is drawing from, weaving them all together in unique ways to create its own mythology. Reminds of how Supernatural made use of so many elements from Norse mythology, paganism, catholicism, horror movies and urban legends to create its own unique mythology as well. Taking the familiar and making it new

Damn, last night's episode of Last Resort was amazing. This show is seriously good, especially for a network show.

So how many shows are you keeping up with? I only have 3 and only one is currently airing (Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and Boardwalk Empire). So another episode of BE will be out Sunday but I usually watch it Monday because of football.Gamerforlife wrote:So there's one more show to add to my already too long list of shows to keep up with
I'm trying to get through the Sherlock series before I start Homeland.

You're doing better than me. I've only got two, not counting the Toonami line-up. Everything else has either ended or been canceledgtmtnbiker wrote:So how many shows are you keeping up with? I'm still behind on Sherlock. I've only seen the first two episodes. I'm waaaay behind on Homeland. I've only seen the first six or so episodes of season 1. I'm also keeping up with The Walking Dead, Arrow, Once Upon a Time, Nikita, Supernatural, various pro wrestling shows, Doctor Who (though fortunately they just had their fall season finale), trying to finish season 4 of The Wire, and I'm slowly working through Friday Night Lights on Netflix. I've also got a bunch of episodes of Veronica Mars and Futurama on my DVR I need to get to at some point.gtmtnbiker wrote:So how many shows are you keeping up with? I also started season 2 of Mad Men what seems like ages ago and haven't gotten back to it in like two months
I seriously need to cut back on my entertainment going into 2013. It's hard to find time for it all with a job and social life. I have a stack of comic books I haven't read from like the past three months too, not to mention my gaming back log
Too much good shit to enjoy in 2012. Damn my first world problems!

I've been watching season 1 of Home Movies. The art style is very simplistic and purposefully bad, and the humor is all awkward. And yet it's hilarious.

Anyone else watching Arrow on CW?
I just don't know what to think. It seems to have a good deal of focus on soap-opera like drama between past lovers and family members and such. But it seems as soon as I decide I've had enough of that crap, the action kicks in and it's pretty damn good for a network T.V. show. And the pilot episode was pretty good all the way through.
Don't know how much longer I'm gonna hold on, but for now I'm still giving it a chance. I just hope there's a bigger focus on action or a big storyline in the works.

Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
Looking at things optimistically, I think Arrow could be one of those shows that will really kick into high gear in season 2. Many of my favorite shows spent their first seasons just figuring out what exactly they were trying to accomplish. Some of them started showing signs of brilliance in the last two or three episodes of their first seasons before really hitting their stride in season 2. I think the show is taking the right approach to its subject material at least, so it's off to a good start. My only real gripe was pointed out by someone else in the Arrow thread, I would like to see this show feel less like Batman. Because it just makes me wish we actually HAD a Batman show.BurningDoom wrote:Anyone else watching Arrow on CW?
