I've brought this 2D platformer up a few times over the last year and we're finally hearing/seeing more details on it

Destructoid didn't like what they saw

The developer's reply (via Wikipedia)
Bernard responded to the review, calling it "highly unprofessional", and defended the title by stating that Destructoid did not play the patched version. Bernard has drawn criticism after he decided to remove the Destructoid robot from the game in response to the review.

Kotuku said it needed work too

I guess it's out on Steam now, but supposedly, the Wiiware version (due out this year) is supposed to be better.
What's everyone's thoughts on this?
Eternity's Child (Wii)
The creator clearly wanted to make a story more than he did a game, as the final result on stream is a wonky, badly animated poorly designed mess. If he wants to produce a game he should collaborate with someone who knows how to make one. It looks good in screens but wait till you see moving...my god.

The story being the focus of a platformer? Odd decision....

Yeah. Yeah he does. While I don't think everyone in the Destructoid comments should have used the language, I don't think there was any personal attacks in the reviews. I think they were just doing their jobs and he didn't like it.
It's hard to take criticism of something you spent a long time working on, I know, but that definitely wasn't the best way to handle it...

I already posted this elsewhere, but this game is kinda lame. It looks real nice and the story seems genuine, but the platforming is slippery and you have to scour the levels back and forth to find gems in order to proceed. Many times in scouring the level you will make a weird jump because of the bad mechanics and will just fall in a pit without any real reason other than the fact that the jump doesn't work perfectly.
I applaud Luc Bernard for making a great game visually and also his plan to include free expansions to an already cheap $5 game, but it doesn't make up for the slippery mechanics. The reason I think it's out on Steam before WiiWare is that they NEED to work out some kinks before it will be perfect. With future updates I do hope and believe that Eternity's Child will eventually be worth the $5 it costs.

The screenshots look phenominal, but I agree that once you see it in motion, it looks like a cheap flash-based game.
