RetroVision wrote:I think 20in is the largest made in the PVM line. The BVM series has a 32in, which is really sweet, but it is very pricey. This is because they have HD Broadcast inputs...which is referred to as HD-SDI (higher quality than HD Component, basically HDMI for broadcast signals). It is basically an uncompressed HD signal that connects via BNC and it is why they cost so much. There are a few 32in BVM on ebay, but it is way out of consumer price range. You would pay more for the BVM 32in than you would for a brand new 50in 3D television.

There are definitely 24", 27" and 32" versions of the PVM, although I believe they stopped making the 32" in the early 90's. Also, that BVM is widescreen and I definitely want to stay with 4:3. Thanks for the link though, I'd never seen one of those!

This might be the case, after seeing ApolloBoy's in action, you should be blown away by every aspect of the image displayed, they truly are a sight to behold!

Yeah, the older PVM I have is really great, I still keep it for that reason even though I picked up a new one a few months back. The picture on my new one is a bit softer but it's got features my older one lacks like component and PAL support.

If you're going to go to the trouble of buying a scanline generator so that your dedicated old-school gaming monitor will have scanlines, you're probably better off buying an actual quality CRT...

I agree. It's just -as can be read in this thread- that finding a good working CRT monitor will only become harder and harder. Also, keep in mind the SLG3000 doesn't actually make those lines completely black, just a very dark shade of what they were before conversion. At least if I can believe this YouTube clip: SLG3000 Scanline Generator & Dreamcast in HD

Anyways, I think it's a nice alternative for those who want scanlines in combination with a thin screen that doesn't take too much space...
