If I owned 80 Neo Geo games or 80 Sega CD games or 80 TurboGrafx games I would feel like the effing man.
That's probably because 80 NES games is like 10 percent of the library, while 80 Turbografx games is damn near every game released in the US.

I really don't get why people say that Catherine is insanely difficult or something. The game didn't seem that hard to me... didn't seem that hard to my friend who played through it either...

I've noticed that one of the first things I do when I get a new game console is buy way more controllers for it than I really need.

I'm the opposite - usually I just get one controller - the one that comes with the console. I hate to buy hardware and accessories, I'd rather spend my hard-earned dough on actual games.

On a somewhat related note, y'all know what's bullshit? One of the main reasons I bought Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for Xbox 360 was to unlock classic Master System games like Golden Axe Warrior and Phantasy Star. Well, turns out that in order to unlock Phantasy Star you need to play a couple of levels of Sonic 2 (I think? it doesn't matter) with two players. Which means I would have to invest $50 for another Xbox controller just to play Phantasy Star. For that price I'm better off just buying the damn Master System original.

This "unlockable" stuff is a bunch of poop anyway. Just let me select the damn game from the main menu, don't make me jump through hoops to play it. Plus, I'm not good enough to unlock all this stuff anyway. At least I unlocked a bunch of developer interviews. Lovely.

The vast majority of those games aren't too hard to unlock at least. I remember unlocking Fantasy Zone by getting above 80000 on Flicky to be a little annoying, mostly because I hate Flicky.

Call me crazy, but I don't like collections where there's no other games to unlock, or fighting games where the characters are all playable from the get-go. I like having some sort of major reward awaiting me. As long as they aren't hidden behind some crazy hard challenge though.

If there isn't anything particular (such as a boycott) keeping you from just getting one off of ebay, then you should do that. You can easily snag one for about $20-$25 in an auction (I know this, I've done it 4 times, hence my above post  ).

Most are hard for me to unlock because I'm terrible at video games.

Funny you mention Flicky, I love that game. It's also one of maybe 5 games my wife will play. I actually considered decorating a Flicky-themed nursery for our (future) baby.

Unlocking fighters, characters, secret levels, New Game+'s, etc. is one thing... Unlocking whole games? I hate that.

I could do that... I just hate buying controllers as I'm a pretty solitary dude and I'd rather buy games. I'll probably cave and get another controller eventually so my wife and I can play Streets of Rage together.

I wonder if Spec Ops:The Line will get any Game of the Year awards.

Ok so I pulled this quote from his sales thread, but I did it to say that I've been feeling the same way lately. I mean I've managed to sort my collection down to about 100 games over 10 systems and if you do the overly simple math, you will see that there's basically no point in me owning all 10 of those systems. I mean, I still want to keep my Super Nintendo and a copy of Super Mario World (for example, among others) because I want to be able to play it on the actual hardware. But I hardly play my NES, SNES and N64 anymore and I've lost just about all interest in collecting/acquiring games for them.

Also, since I have a wired 360 controller and a TV with VGA now, that'll make it a lot easier to hook up my laptop and have an at least somewhat enjoyable experience playing games via emulation.

I really don't think I'll regret my decision since I've yet to regret getting rid of the hundreds of games I've already gotten rid of. Besides, there's not much left anyway. I just need to find the best way to consolidate and decide which games are better played on their original hardware and which ones are playable enough by "other means".

In short, I will be selling some shit soon. haha

I couldn't do it. Nearly everything I've ever sold off in the past I've ended up regretting. Most stuff I've sold I eventually re-acquire, often paying a lot more for it.
