What games did you dismiss as a kid, but now appreciate?

i would say puzzle games. i was more into fighting games and platformers when i was younger. so i always skip on those games. now i love Tetris, Panel Del Pon, Dr Mario, Yoshie Cookie, etc, etc.

Tetris. Believe it or not, I really hated it when I was a kid.

I'm still not a huge fan. Of that type of block matching puzzler, it's probably my least favourite of all the ones I've played. I prefer Columns, Puyo Puyo, all the Art Style games, Panel de Pon, Pokemon Link, Baku Baku... the list goes on.shmuk wrote:Tetris. Believe it or not, I really hated it when I was a kid.

I pretty much dismissed everything that wasn't Mario, Sonic, and Rareware-related... even third party stuff. All my friends were bugging me to play games like Mega Man X, Metroid, Metal Gear Solid, Rayman 2+3 etc. and I just flat out thought they were all going to suck for no real reason at all!
Turns out years later someone linked me to Bible Games 1 from the AVGN and in the video when he mentioned games like Contra his enthusiasm for the old NES games intrigued me... then I happened to see Screwattack vaults and top 10's while looking for more AVGN episodes and made me REALLY curious about gaming and what I could have been missing out on. So yep, snowballed from there as I took out my old NES from the storage room, loved games like Castlevania and Contra and just sky-rocketed ahead through the gaming world.
