I've been in a mood for DooM lately. I found out Skulltag has been succeeded by a new project called Zandronum.

For those who don't know, Zandronum is basically ZDoom (Doom with a bunch of limitations removed and some optional extras) with client/server online play. You also have the option of using GZDoom's OpenGL renderer instead of ZDoom's software renderer.

If you like doom you ought to try out ZDoom and it's derivatives sometime.

Well, turns out my monitor does have a limited 3 year warranty so I'm trying to RMA it. Digging into the long list of purchased things in NewEgg I was able to find my invoice so proof of purchase isn't something I'll have to worry about. It's a shame. This monitor has been in my possession for exactly a year and two weeks, and over the last two weeks has developed problems. Rock solid for that first year, barely any backlight bleed, no dead/stuck pixels, and it's factory calibration is spot on. It's the only IPS panel I've seen that's suitable for gaming.

Ah well. We'll see. I'd really like to not have to buy another monitor.

I'm probably getting the Megadrive version then, I don't recall it looking any worse and it's going to be far, far cheaper in boxed form. And I already own the console.

It's got some technical drawbacks, but nothing that at all breaks the game or anything like that. It's a perfectly fine version.
