Anyone see the pilot? I thought it was decent, didn't feel like Smallville at all. Smallville was never a comic book show, just a teen soap opera. Dawson's Creek with Superman. Arrow feels like a proper comic book show. I like that. The action quotient was pretty high, and they already set up some questions and mysteries. I'm kind of excited to see a show that will feature Black Canary on it. Will she have her super powers though?

Could be a decent show to tide us over until Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D hits the airwaves

Solid second episode

This isn't brilliant TV or anything, but it's quite a bit more watchable and entertaining than other comic book shows that have come out over the years like Birds of Prey, The Cape and Smallville. If nothing else, it's got a lot of good action. Something Smallville never had. In fact, in just two episodes Arrow shits all over Smallville, not that that's saying much but still

I think this show has potential if it gets good ratings. I read a review recently from a hard core comic book fan and published author I know and she was pleasantly surprised by the pilot, which isn't to say there aren't nits to pick (to quote a certain podcaster), but it's solid. Good cast, decent dialog (though Oliver's narration does sound too comic booky and forced), and a rather serialized storytelling approach that keeps teasing with unanswered questions. It has a cinematic flavor to its direction too.

I enjoyed the first episode. My wife and her friend (both of which have never read a comic book in their life) also enjoyed it. I'll admit I know very little of the source material though. Missed the second one, but have the PVR setup to grab it tonight when it airs again. Really looking forward to it though, because like you said there are a lot of mysteries already that I'm eager to explore more.

I haven't read a single Green Arrow comic in my life, but I'm enjoying the show, it's entertaining. So far there's been a good mix of the "story of the week" as well as the larger story behind it. And I'm really liking the flashback parts to the island, clearly there's much more going on there than what I initially thought.

I watched the pilot and was pleasantly entertained. I was glad to see this wasn't Small-arrow-ville as well. I just wish they'd given Ollie a mask rather than have him look like Priss from Bladerunner.

I am a huge fan of Green Arrow, especially the 70's version AND my middle son is named Oliver (partially after Mr. Queen), and I have to say that this show feels too much like Batman Begins on TV.
In the 70's DC tried real hard to kick the notion, which was 100% true, that GA was a blatant Batman rip-off.

a super-heroic archer with obvious Batman influences.[3] These include the Green Arrow's sidekick Speedy, his use of an Arrow-Car and Arrow-Plane for transportation, his use of an Arrow-Cave as his headquarters, his alter ego as a billionaire playboy, the use of an Arrow-Signal to summon him, and a clown-like arch foe named Bull's Eye, similar to Batman's arch-foe, the Joker.

In the 70's they changed Ollie from a playboy billionaire to

an outspoken advocate of the underprivileged in society and the political left wing. For instance, he once saved a child's dog playing in a railyard, but instead of feeling satisfaction, he brooded on the larger problem of how the child had nowhere in the city to play safely.

This new TV show looks to bring him back to his roots as a Christopher Nolan Batman rip-off. With that being said, even though I am annoyed by the Dark Knight feel my wife and I have enjoyed the series thus far.

I like the show so far. I'm sticking with it. It doesn't feel like a super-hero show, more of a revenge character than a do-gooder. And that's saying a lot, because I'm NOT a fan of Green Arrow in the comics, despite being a big DC Comics fan.

In regards to Smallville being compared to Dawson's Creek: For sure on the first couple of seasons. But as the show developed it became more and more a comic book show. Lots of super-villains, long-reaching storyarcs, and lots of unexpected deaths and plot twists. IIRC, it was around season 3 that the show started turning more in that direction. Give it a shot again if you haven't.

I was pretty excited watching the latest episode when I heard the name Bertellini get dropped and knew exactly where the story was going from that point, then was a bit dissapointed when I saw who they cast for the role. I'm a Batman guy, so I love seeing the Huntress on the show (and for more than one episode too), but god what a horrible casting choice IMO. She's not super pretty, and she doesn't seem to have the same onscreen chemistry with Oliver that we see between him and Ms. Lance.

Maybe I'll warm up to her more when I see her in costume

It's pretty awesome seeing Captain Jack Harkness from Dr. Who and Torchwood on the show by the way. Seeing him play a villain and be on an American TV show is kind of interesting.

I really liked the latest episode. Good mix of action and talking. And I'm digging this Huntress as well.

Haven't seen any Island-flashbacks for a while now, I hope they won't drop those.

I've started quick-skipping through any scenes with Laurel and Oliver's best friend... tim? Tom? Whatever macking on each other.

Makes it easier to take both of them.

HEY CW (or whoever shows this) lets focus on Oliver, his mom's little scheme, etc etc - not on a side character's wish to date an unattractive girl in the show.

Also, anyone else bothered by that hideous cancerous mole on Oliver's mom's lip? I think his sister has one too. wtf?
