Favorite Final fantasy game and worst Final Fantasy game

About a week ago I borrowed my friends 360 to finally play Final Fantasy XIII... and I hate it. The game is far too linear, and all of the characters are little more than cliches. But it did get me to wondering about the gaming community's thoughts on the Final Fantasy series in general. I was just curious about what everyone's favorite FF game is, and which they think is the worst. I'd also like to know what you think of the FF series in general, taking all of the games into account.
Personally, my favorite FF game is VII. It was my first, and I have to say it's still the best (with VI being a very, very close second). The worst I think is XIII (with X being a very, very close second).
All in all, I have to say that FF is one of my favorite video game series. The FF games showed me that video games can be serious story telling machines, and not just simple games. Though I dislike most games after the original creative team left the series. I think the last really good FF game that I played was IX. i thought it was a nice return to the series roots, but also expanded on what the series was capable of.
I'd really love to hear what everyone else has to say about Final Fantasy though...

Only played a few of them but as of now my favorite is FF3 on the SNES (FF6 everywhere else) and my least favorite is FF10 on PS2.
