That music and the blood sucking worm thingies... haha Plus, I didn't really understand what was going on or what you were supposed to do.

As for Star Trek, it actually has a neat story, if you like that sort of thing, which I do. The levels and "missions" are pretty interesting, and there are even a few puzzles thrown into the mix. I was very surprised at how much I ended up liking it. Not sure how popular this game is but I recommend it, even if you're not a Star Trek fan.

Me and a friend were obsessed with beating this game no matter how many walls we ran into along the way. I got it for my birthday one year and thought it had the best graphics I had ever seen. I thought the recreation of the Enterprise bridge with me in the center was just too cool. Yeah I was a really geeky kid (and an even geekier adult).

It took us years to figure out some of the really obscure puzzles but eventually we did it and I never had more of a sense of accomplishment than when we beat that game. I thought the story was very cool, like its own collection of interconnected Star Trek episodes.

Having played the PC 25th Anniversary game and its sequel Judgement Rites I realize the NES game was kind of a pale imitator of those really amazing adventure games but there's still a special place in my heart for the NES version.

Racing games. The only racing game I played as a kid was Mario Kart, though I do fondly remember watching my dad playing Burnout on Xbox and I might have played it myself, But only for the whole crashing into stuff thing. But after playing tons of MK7 and playing Spotpass races, I've honed my skillz and I then got Daytona USA:CCE for my birthday. Now I'm going to hunt down some more Sega racing games.

You know someone is young when they have child memories of their dad playing Xbox. It will be interesting when video gamers start hitting the age for politics.

I missed out on so many awesome SNES game growing up because I was obsessed with fighting games. I remember renting Super Metroid and Earthbound and just not even wanting to play them. When I got older and put them back in I was hooked and would think back and be like how did I not like this? I would play Killer Instinct for 12 hours straight single player than draw pictures of the characters.

This to me as well. I used to consider racing games boring. "You just drive around, what's the point?" But then shmups indoctrinated me into skill-based gaming and improving one's own skills instead of the player character's and that eventually carried over to racing games as well.

Also, pick up Sega Rally Championship for PS2. It's awesome.

All RPG's before FF7. Didn't learn how to play them until then.
Everything before that, all games I was used to was "get through area, without dying."
Then I learned you had to grind & level up & you won't die while passing through areas in quickest amount of time...
Went back & replayed a lot of games I didn't understand. Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Final Fantasy...

Still mad that I didn't know any better when I was younger & had kept my sealed CIB Final Fantasy together, instead of opening it & go from there...

No one should flame you. This is thread is to be non judging so that everyone can feel comfortable expressing his or her experience without gear of being flamed.

Now, of course, asking what it was about the game that initially rubbed you the wrong way is an honest question with no flame intended.
