Hobbies other than gaming?

We're like brothers from another mother! We have like the exact same interests. I think the only glaring difference is that I'm not a huge Joss Whedon fan. I don't dislike him, but I'm not a huge fan either. Firefly/Serenity and Avengers are both freaking awesome, though!

Well, as long as we can agree on that. I thought Avengers was one of the most awesome movies I've ever seen! We do have a lot in common. I've noticed that. You'd be easy to hang out and have fun with.

Chuck, Breaking Bad, and Doctor Who are the best TV shows I have seen in a really long time. I'm with you on most of what is on TV these days. I read anime/manga and comics but I don't really keep up as much as I use to. I read them casually on my tablet or computer. The only manga I read weekly is Bleach/Naruto every Wednesday. I used to buy issues here and there of comics or Shonen Jump but it's much easier to do it online and I save some shelf space.

Yeah, I was a big anime nut once. I'm not entirely sure why I fell out of it. You're like the only other guy on the forum who is a Chuck fan it seems LOL. I love that show and the final episode. Too bad you and BurningDoom don't live in Florida

HUGE baseball fan - go Blue Jays! It's also currently the post-season (go Tigers, destroy those Wankees!) so it's a pretty exciting time in the season for me. I usually watch about 120 games a year, and follow the MLB website a few times a day.

I like sports: Red Sox & Patriots and watching whoever beats the Yankees & Jets.

TV series - have been catching up on shows that I missed. Recently watched & completed Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, and Arrested Development. Currently watching Sherlock.

Mtn biking, hiking, skiing, and roller blading are my other hobbies.

Other than watching Power Rangers and Transformers, I also like to collect toys. In fact, The other tab is open to S.H. Figuarts. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
I also have pets, two dogs and two cats. I love them dearly.
I also watch a lot of internet review shows, those being Vangelus, Atop the Fourth Wall, Pat the NES Punk, The Happy Video Game Nerd, Classsic Game Room, The Angry Video Game Nerd, and Angry Joe, Ashens, and Talking Classics.

@stickem - I played slow pitch softball this year from April until August! I hadn't played it since school, and although I love watching football/soccer, I've never been a sporty person. But as a lefty, I've found that I'm quite good at swinging a bat! Worst part of my game is throwing however, as apparently I still throw like a cricket player. It was a pain finding a glove for a leftie, but I have one now and I think I'll play again next year.

i don't know why i'm surprised ya'll play this over there, but i am.lol
anyway if you want to get serious about it don't get cheated on sorry equipment. expect to pay 150-300 for a good composite bat and 100-300 for a good glove that will last you a lifetime. crazy how you can't find a lefty glove btw. anyway if you want to stick with it read the forums at softballfans.com, you'll learn alot about the game.

Musician. I write a lot of stuff, but I'm mainly a drummer in most projects i've been in.

I fix and build guitar/bass amps (mostly tube). I'm also into building other stuff like analog synths and effect pedals. I actually like building tons of stuff other than music gear. I'm a hacker (not just computer) at heart.

Most recently my roomates and I set up a knife/axe throwing range in our backyard. It's a good stress relief...

I forgot to mention that I also play softball from June-Oct (1 league). We switched to wooden bats this year as a way to lessen injuries. A couple of teams were upset (they were outvoted) by this change and quit.

My glove is 20 years old (Mizuno outfielder glove). I had a friend re-lace it for me for the first time this year.

A good player on the team forgot his lefty glove a couple of times. He had to play Left Field a couple of times with a righty glove. He would catch the ball and then take the glove off to throw the ball.

Haha, yeah I suppose it is a bit like Americans playing cricket or rugby. It's pretty niche here, but getting more popular, and judging by my city (http://www.bristolsoftball.com) it is popular with women and men. We have three leagues, and I play in the bottom league which is mostly full of rookies and people learning the game and how to play. My team is mostly newbies, but the captain is American and probably our best player. I don't really have the money to get good equipment at the moment, all I have is a glove. But I did buy The Bigs 2 for my Wii to try and learn the plays, when to run and what not. As an outsiders am I mistaken that baseball is the same as softball but with overarm fast pitching and a smaller ball? Or is there different innings, plays etc associated with each sport?

just a few differences than baseball really. 10 fielders instead of 9 with baseball, 7 innings instead of 9 but usually only an hour timelimit, and you just can't keep on fouling balls off. usually a foul on the third strike is an out unless your league allows 1 courtesy foul on the 3rd strike. basically there are about 4 or 5 associations played under sanction here that tweak the rules between themselves. different legal bat/ball lists, pitching arc, homerun limits. stealing in some, some start the count at 1 ball 1 strike count when you bat, some let you have a pitch runner per inning etc. but the basic runs of baseball are the same. oh, we have rugby in high schools here,lol

in one of my leagues pitchers are required to wear masks, and it's almost the norm to see that everywhere other than rec leagues. couple years ago saw a pitcher get drilled in the face crushing his orbital, nose and spent a week in the hospital. not much reaction time when a ball can come off a bat at 100+ mph.

The sound of a baseball hitting an aluminum bat makes me cringe. But I do love to play homerun derby with friends using an aluminum bat and tennis balls. You can knock the snot out of those balls.

Anyone play no glove 16" softball? That was the norm when I was growing up.
