im buying it as something to keep my nephew entertained. they are sold at the site i always go to for 29.99 for the regular colors and 59.99 for the limited edition gold. I dont want the gold because there is no need for me to have the limited edition. Are the regular colors pricing fair? it says they're new.

agreed, i would opt for the sp. however if you are doing it just to entertain your nephew, and you dont personally intend on playing it. a gba might be the answer. if they are brand new in box 30 isnt outrageous, but you could dig around and find a used one, probably with games cheaper. the gba has no way to brighten the screen, which is very annoying. so if you are going to play it, ever, get an sp with the brighter screen. if it is soley for your nephew... meh let him have a crook in his neck from trying to hold the gba just right to see the screen.Pullmyfinger wrote:$30 for a regular GBA is way too much, you could get a SP or a Micro for a little more than that and they have MUCH better screens and rechargeable battery
thanks guys for all your help. Very informative and it prepared me very well to make a decision.
i see they added pink GBA and a silver GBA. but the backlit problem could make the kid not want to play it. But i like what disorderlyvision said, "meh let him have a crook in his neck from trying to hold the gba just right to see the screen." haha very funny.
you know what thought since im paying money for him i should get some entertainment from it right. Silver GBA looks good.
you guys convinced me though to get an SP for myself now haha.

before i got my sp, i got a gba off of ebay with a bunch of accesories (chargers, case) and 6-7 games for around 30. the system itself could probably be had for around 15.Pullmyfinger wrote:If you really want to give him a regular GBA you might want to check ebay first, I doubt they go for more than $15 or something
retroman im glad you decided on the sp for yourself, you will be glad you did. if you get the regular gba for your nephew play it a couple times and you will appreciate the sp so much more.
