Hobbies other than gaming?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

It was just a little joke, please don't be insulted. And BTW that thread is an important bit of Racketboy culture, right up there with budsmoka and grape poptarts.

Huh. I don't know what's worse: The fact that there was 18 pages attributed to that, or that I read them all. I literally gained nothing from it.

I see a lot of love for metal and manga, two things I've tried to like but just haven't. I think I read 10 volumes of Great Teacher Onizuka, and actually enjoyed it, but the sci-fi stuff bores me.

As for myself, many of my hobbies I have little time for as I have a baby daughter to look after most of the time.

My main hobby aside from gaming, is doing a radio show every Thursday evening. I work at a university so I can access their studio and it broadcasts across Bristol (nearly half a million people) and online. It's a student radio station so the listener numbers isn't great, but I enjoy it as I get to share my love of hip hop music. I've listened to all genres of music and my favourite has always been hip hop, having bought albums continuously since my first (2001 by Dr Dre back in 1999), when I was 12. Ironically, I mostly listen to the underground stuff as well as the older material from the late 80s/early 90s, which is what I tend to play on radio. I've never had the patience (or the money) however to learn the art of DJing, which is something I would have loved to do. I've also dabbled in rapping, but only as a bit of fun and never taken it seriously, particularly as I have a strong British accent! I haven't done that in a few years however. So for the most part I am a fan, and I love finding bargains seeing as MP3s are taking over from CDs.

I'm also a fan of wrestling, primarily WWE. This is because I was a huuuuuge fan from about 1998-2003, and then got back into it in 2006/7 when TNA became popular here in the UK. I still keep up with WWE though don't have time to watch it every week, but I've lost interest in TNA since Hogan came along and the ring went 4-sided. I have been buying the odd DVD from WWE though, which is what I mostly watch instead of the modern stuff.

I enjoy watching soccer/football and try to go to Tottenham games at least once or twice a season, but it is an expensive day out! I enjoy going to rap concerts too, and am going to see Immortal Technique on Wednesday. I've seen a lot of artists live but there's always more to see!.

@stickem - I played slow pitch softball this year from April until August! I hadn't played it since school, and although I love watching football/soccer, I've never been a sporty person. But as a lefty, I've found that I'm quite good at swinging a bat! Worst part of my game is throwing however, as apparently I still throw like a cricket player. It was a pain finding a glove for a leftie, but I have one now and I think I'll play again next year.

@Blu - That's a shame about who you support, as I'm a Spurs fan myself :) I try to go up to a couple of matches each season, and went to West Brom at home and Chelsea away last season. Although I went to Stamford Bridge WITH a Chelsea fan (my fiancee's dad) and had to sit in the Chelsea end. Thankfully the game was 0-0 and I wasn't found out! But yeah, I love watching the EPL, as well as the Champions League and Europa League. I don't have Sky Sports so can't watch La Liga, but the Bundesliga is now on every weekend here (highlights) for free, and I quite enjoy watching that. I'm currently addicted to Football Manager on my smart phone, are you a fan of that series?

I don't think I have any other hobby right now

Gaming just takes me the bigges slice of my free time now because I'm not just retrogaming, but I also play boardgames and I'm getting into roleplaying. Writing about games is just icing the cake.

Now writing used to be a big hobby of mine but now it's all gaming. It's not that I don't have time or that I don't find fiction or other texts interesting but rather than I'm taking a break from them to avoid rot.

Writing has also overtaken reading, I barely read anymore, which is bad if I want to keep writing but I simply don't fancy it anymore. Now I read a book a month and call it a day, no more obsessive reading for me.

Right now my free time is taken between Writing, gaming and Studying. Oh, and the internet. But I should get rid of that one =P

I think rappers with a British accent sound awesome. I love Dizzee Rascal's sound. I don't know how he is view among Brits. I know he has practically no presence here in the states, but I think he is pretty good.

And I really like Kano. He is a bit more pop than I like normally. But, he is really talented.
