GGX retail disc is compatible with a VGA output! It says so on the game packaging I play my retail copy all the time in VGA, heck, the game was designed with 640x480 resolution in mind. Swtch that stupid utopia boot disc for something more reliable like a gameshark disc backup or a cheats n codes disc. Someone here had that very same issue with GGX and CVS2. After I recommended that they change their bootdisc, problem was solved.

VGA = 640 x 480

The borders left and right are normal and keep everything in proportion without stretching. I'm pretty sure you connected your Dreamcast with VGA, so you won't be able to stretch the signal. If you want to stretch it you'll have to use another analog signal...

- RF
- composite
- S-video
- SCART

Thanks elmagicochrisg
That was quick :)
vga= 640 I have seen people posting that they are running their dreamcast's on at 720
Is that possible or is the 640 my limit ?
Sorry but I'm new to this
Thanks again

480p is the DC's maximum native resolution.

Only way to get 720p would be with a converter / upscaler.

Will hardly make a difference, so I wouldn't bother...

Hi everyone

So I have one of these VGA boxes, it looks just like the one sold on this website except I bought mine through Amazon. Anyway, I have been attempting to hook my dreamcast up to my LCD monitor (hp2311x) and I am able to get a picture, however the picture is really bright and washed out. Turning down brightness or any picture settings does not help as it makes the picture look even worse.

I also tried hooking up my dreamcast to my plasma (Panasonic p55st50) using a VGA to HDMI converter that i purchased from Monoprice and again I am able to get a picture but it is really bright and blown out looking picture. Have any of the members here ran into this issue? Do you think it's the VGA box or are my monitors not compatible with my dreamcast?

Thanks

Does the monitor and TV work fine w/out the Dreamcast? Have you connected your Dreamcast using a cheap composite or RF cable to a TV?

I believe it might be the DC VGA box. In the past, my defective DC VGA Box had an orange tiny to it and Racketboy sent me a replacement very quickly.

Thanks for your response, yes both the monitor and TV work great. I did try hooking up the dreamcast via the standard composite cables to my tv and the picture looked fine, a bit fuzzy since it is composite but nowhere near as bright or washed out as when the dreamcast was hooked up via VGA. Any good places to buy another VGA cable? Racketboy currently shows the VGA box as sold out

Did you buy your VGA Box used from Amazon? I would ask for a replacement or a refund. I guess it's all about timing, demand, and availability. I can't believe the prices have increased exponentially! I believe I payed like $24 earlier this year. The main sites I noticed that carry them are Racketboy, eBay, and Amazon. eBay has a few on their site right now...
