Hobbies other than gaming?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I'll bite.

Most of my hobbies are work related. I enjoy reading about trends in e-commerce, whether it be studying pricing strategies or learning about new technology, I'm on it.

Lecturing. I love holding lectures at Universities, but I've only done that a handful of times. Being confused for a student is always an ego boost.

Stand-up comedy. Thanks to friends I've performed at some pretty large venues. It's such a rush to perform that I'm always anticipating my next show. Making an immediate connection with an audience is like nothing else.

Cooking. It's a chore I love, plus my wife usually cleans the dishes.

Screening/Reviewing movies. Another thing I love that can often be a chore.

Boinking my wife. It never gets old.

Sports! I haven't played ice hockey since college, but I do have friends over for touch football, wiffle ball, catch, croquet, softball, etc. I used to throw rocks (aka bowl) at least once a week, but haven't had the time for it lately.

Astronomy. Not many things beat staying up late at night gazing at the heavens. I have two Meade telescopes and can spend hours upon hours sitting outside just looking and wondering what is out there. I'm still even fascinated by some of the craters on the moon.

Poker/Cigar Smoking/Drinking/Gambling. Love poker games (five card stud) that start at 6pm and end at 9am. Love high stake bets. Love opening that second bottle of scotch that gives me a second wind. Love placing a twenty in the gutter and saying "You make a strike, it's yours". Love going to the skate park, placing a twenty on the ground and saying "sex change clean over this, it's yours". Love random bets, love bluffing, love winning, don't mind losing. Love the smell of taking a shower after drinking, smoking, and playing poker for twelve hours straight. Hate claiming my winnings on taxes, but it's worth it.

I collect esoteric books, comic books, records/CDs, movies and anime on DVD/Blu-Ray/Laserdisc, horror stuff, and pretty much all kinds of awesome things?
I also love messing around with electronic musical instruments. It's a comparatively recent development, spurred by making the soundtrack for Unemployment Quest.
I've been known to dabble in photography and Super 8 film, but this has been on the back burner for the past couple years.

I really like board games too, but it's been tough to get people to play with since finishing undergrad?

@The Mustang guy:

A 68? Awesome! My dad restored a 68 Fastback when I was in highschool, and I got to drive it to school for 2 months. I had THE coolest car in the school for 2 months. I got a total of ZERO chicks though. I was dating someone. But I bet if I tried to get laid with school chicks I would have failed wonderfully. Still tho, awesome car.

I read as well; mostly sticking to fantasy/scifi

I play magic the gathering. My level of competitiveness fluctuates from month to month.

I also enjoy some board gaming from time to time.

I love to fish but it has been a few years, I need to fix that...

I am also a sports fan, primarily football. I watch several games every week amd follow the sport closely. NFL Sunday Ticket is awesome.

forgot i'm into fish as well, lol. have 2 55g s.american cichlid tanks, and a 30 gallon with a couple angelfish. lot of work doing water changes when i'm the only one doing it.

I'm into a lot of the usual I guess. Comics, Cartoons, Manga/Anime, Sci-Fi. I don't really actively keep up with any of that, as I prefer generally to dig for the great stuff I missed. Guess I approach most things the same way I approach gaming!

I'm also a pretty huge metalhead, have a pretty decent CD collection going on. I play guitar, a bit of bass, and I do dabble around in music production a bit. I can't say I'm particularly good at any of those things, so I'm unlikely to ever show any of it off on here (plus I don't think what I do really gels with most folks here taste wise). I've kinda neglected that over the past few months, but it's fun to dabble in.

I tinker a lot. If anything breaks, I'll try and fix it myself. It's usually a nice learning opportunity anyway.

I've probably got a bit of a videophile streak in me, though I don't really have the income for it. I mean I am all into the RGB/240p stuff with the old consoles, so yeah.

What kind of metal are we talking about? I just went to see All Shall Perish, Whitechapel, and Hatebreed last week in Charlotte, NC.

Not a fan of most -core stuff at all. Old school death metal is kinda my bread and butter.

what can I say

There's a Skinny Puppy album in there too.

I wouldn't mind expanding that particular segment of my library. I haven't bought many CDs in a while though.

I'm a huge Devin Townsend fan, and when I'd read that he'd laid some guitar tracks down on a couple of songs on Millennium, I thought it was a good excuse to check out FLA. I liked what I heard.

Skinny Puppy is great. Last Rights is a fantastic album. "The Killing Game" used to scare the hell out of me as a kid, lol.
