Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So, what would you guys say is a good price for just a Core Grafx console? Can they be modded to play US games as well?

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Breetai or someone else smarter than me can answer this better, however....
I know there's an adapter that let's you play JPN games on a TurboGrafx-16. I've never seen an adapter that works in the opposite direction (NA games on JPN console).
Keep in mind that most text-heavy games (like RPGs) were on CDs, not HuCards. What I'm saying is that you'll be fine buying Japanese HuCard games, with the exception of Neutopia I/II and a few others. Many action/arcade games contain English text, even the Japanese versions.
You can probably find a Core Grafx system on ebay for $60 (maybe less) + shipping. I would really recommend forking over a bit more dough to get a PC Engine Duo instead. Remember, the CD games are region free.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
There is no 'other way' plug in adapter because of a check that the J consoles do that the US one does not and those adapters just do the line swapping. But yes the systems can be modded.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I know there's an adapter that let's you play JPN games on a TurboGrafx-16. Holy friggin' crap
RGB into a monitor that actually natively supports it...
I am in 240p heaven... Vampire Savior and Saturn Bomberman both look just jaw dropping. I think I need to invest in more Saturn games pronto!

...it's late for me, I need sleep!
Picture looks like an arcade monitor, btw. Naturally arcade ports seem to look especially awesome.

I've read that the Model 2 has a 2X CD-Rom while the Model 1 is only a 1X. Faster load-times on the Model 2. And the Model 2 works fine on the Model 1 Genesis, it's the set-up I had before my Sega CD died.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:To go with my Model 1 Genesis.noiseredux wrote:why the Model 1 specifically?RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I really, really want a Model 1 Sega CD
Takes less shelf space too.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
$50-$100 is the running price for a working one with hook-ups. I played $60 plus shipping for my first TG-16. Then my cat broke the controller port by sitting on the controller-cord right where it plugs in. My wife then got me another one just recently for $75 plus shipping (Awesome wife!).RyaNtheSlayA wrote:So, what would you guys say is a good price for just a Core Grafx console? As already pointed out, there is an adapter for the TG-16, but it's pretty pricey.

Still can't decide between the 3DS XL and the DSi XL. It's driving me nutty.

The former. There will probably be some good 3DS games sooner or later.Nintendork666 wrote:Still can't decide between the 3DS XL and the DSi XL. It's driving me nutty.
