Watch it sober. Also, get ready, it's one of the coolest horror films I've ever seen (Even the soundtrack is the shit).
Yeah, I have heard many good things - but I have also heard that it is an exceptional movie to watch with your mind a bit altered. I figure it is probably Jodorowsky like in this way - no?

To be fair, I'm not into the idea of watching or playing a surreal game under the influence but if you want it... give it a shot.

Some people love the first but even with the kick-ass stop motion I couldn't be bothered with it.

I ended up not watching Hasu last night as I had planned (but will hopefully see it soon, though).

Instead, I watched Dagon on noise's recommendation. I thought it was a lot of fun, really well put together, and had a nicely communicated Lovecraftian atmosphere to it. It also had some pretty intense moments that were visually compelling. Thanks for the suggestion!

Awesome, Dagon rules. You've played RE4 right Dave? Did you feel similarities like I mentioned?

I guess. I always thought RE4 was more than a little H.P.-esque, so I am not sure if there were specific similarities you are alluding to.

The look of the village, being chased by mob of angry villagers yelling in foreign language, ...tentacles etc....

Just watched "Penumbra" which was OK - hot female lead with some gratuitous oiling-up of bristols, also "The Innkeepers" - really interesting lead characters, but neither was scary enough! Oh, and "Rubber" which was a silly idea but extremely enjoyable!

I recently picked up the 4-film collection that was put out of the Critters movies. I don't know about you guys, but I really love these films. They're at times extremely campy and silly, yet still infinitely enjoyable as far as horror films go. I sat down last night with the first one in the series. The first one isn't my favorite (I love the second, particularly the Easter Bunny scene), but I still enjoy watching it. The hilarity that ensues from the destructive bounty hunters keeps me laughing, while the critters themselves are nasty little bastards. Intelligent but extremely hungry. Good stuff.

^Michelangelo inquires, "Where do they come up with this stuff?".

I love the first Critters movie, down the cheesy fake hair band.
