Not really...

The whole concept of Shenmue is to make you feel like you're living the 80's again...

Party pooper !!!

Just checked. Shenmue's story is set in 1986... :?

Maybe it was a very very very very early prototype...

But tell me Apple. No, yes, how much?...

Sure, why not. I'm not crazy about Shenmue, but I'd like to see its story wrapped up for the fans who really are into it.

I'd buy in for sure, probably at 60 or 70 bucks.

I wouldn't necessarily want it on dreamcast though. I'd prefer it to be a major release on modern systems, even it was only digital. Better potential for profit, less risk, and you have the chance to bring in new fans.

I've said before though, that more than anything else what I want from Shenmue is a conclusion.

I'd probably pledge around $100, mainly I want to see what happens beyond that damn cave with Ryo and Shenhua. That might've been the toughest cliffhanger ever to deal with. Preferably, I'd like to see the release on a modern console. I'm also slightly hesitant to see the games released in a HD variant, when you can easily use a VGA and have the same experience. Plus, I honestly think reviewers would not be able to look through the lens of the past when assigning their remarks. They'll slam the game for what it is now, rather than how the game changed the standards.

If they would re-release the games in HD to attract a new audience, they sure as hell would not release the third on a retro console like the Dreamcast.

A better bet would be a download-only Shenmue III on XBLA or PSN.

If all you want it is a continuation of the story, perhaps a kickstarter campaign to tell the story in another medium. Maybe a Shenmue manga/graphic novel or a Shenmue movie. Similar perhaps how the Xbox version of Shenmue II had a DVD with all the cutscenes from Shenmue I on the DVD. Perhaps a Shenmue Trilogy DVD/Blu-Ray set with all the cutscenes from the first two games edited together into movies, and what would have been the 3rd game's cutscenes as the final movie. Perhaps to lower costs, they could animate the film to look like Dreamcast era CGI even!

I think they did sort of confirm that Shenmue I & II were coming to XBLA/PSN right? I wouldn't mind replaying it on my Xbox. People waiting for Dreamcast 2, its already here. It's called Xbox 360

$50usd.

You invest so, so, so much time into the Shenmue series and have no closure. Not that Shenmue is the greatest game of all time, but it does feel a bit like a World Series ending in a tie.

I'm sure we all know how the story will end, and I'd like to play it out, but not for more than fifty bucks.

I wouldn't back it. I played most of the first game, and it just doesn't do much for me.

Would an HD remake for Shenmue sell well? I can't imagine the gameplay has aged well since all the things that made the series so famous is basically the standard now. Is the gameplay for Shenmue that well crafted that it can still hold up to more modern games that on paper does what it does but better?
