I could care less what others think of my gaming habits. I say play what portable you like. I recently aquired a blue Tetris portable game and used it once as a tease. The day all the hype on the iPhone 5, I walked in Gamestop held it to my ear and said I had the new Google phone. Had a few looks, you should see the curiosity when I bring Mattel Football along.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I'm embarrassed to play 3Ds in public. I'm a bit curious on why you are embarrassed if you would like to share - do you notice people staring or something like that, or your friends give you flak for it?Forlorn Drifter wrote:I want to pick up a 3DS, but I really don't play portables anymore. I think you should not sure even if you don't have any steady partner...SamuraiMegas wrote:If you have a steady girlfriend or wife them you shouldn't care.
Presumably you don't get partners in random locations just because you are not playing on a portable (but I wouldn't know).

I know it retains the ratio, but I've heard there's still sort of a "washed out" look, especially with 2d games (http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9112058). But then I hear the exact opposite, saying the visuals have cleared up compared to the original 3DS, and are basically the same as the DSi XL aside from the black bars which retain the ratio ( ).
The circle pad (and ability to play 3DS titles) justifies the price difference for me between the 3DS XL and it's last-gen counterpart, but not if the DS games don't appear as originally intended.
It's probably been discussed in this thread before, but would anyone care to re-clarify this for me? I'd love to hear some personal experience.
Quoted to bump my question. Anyone with a 3DS XL, please respond.
Thank you.

A couple days ago I meet a girl because she was playing on a Gameboy. I got my GBA out and said, "damn, you Outretroed me". Instant phone and meeting.Ivo wrote:Presumably you don't get partners in random locations just because you are not playing on a portable (but I wouldn't know).
So yeah, GBAs get you laid.

Now that I think of it, I actually did have a girl asking me what I was playing once (2 years ago). I was playing Fire Emblem (GBA) on a DS. What she actually asked was if I was playing Battle for Wesnoth (it is an open source turn-based strategy game, so I was indeed impressed).General_Norris wrote:A couple days ago I meet a girl because she was playing on a Gameboy. I have no idea if she was flirting with me or just interested in the game though.
But I was talking about the opposite scenario, that you get partners by NOT playing. I guess that can happen too.

Just downloaded Liberation Maiden. Is anyone else playing this? I hope Crimson Shroud is released soon here.

How is Liberation Maiden? That's on my "to buy" list next time I pick up a 3DS prepaid card.Octopod wrote:Just downloaded Liberation Maiden. Is anyone else playing this? I hope Crimson Shroud is released soon here.
Is Crimson Shroud that SRPG? If so, I want that too.

Liberation Maiden is lots of fun and def worth the money. It sucks for lefties like me because I have to use my right hand for the stylus which feels odd but I'm used to being a lefty and having to just deal.
I'm honestly not sure what Crimson Shroud is other than a RPG based on pnp games with the dice rolls shown. I don't think it is a srpg but that would be cool. Personally I hope it is a dungeon crawler but whatever kind of rpg it is it just looks so cool that I'll buy it anyhow. Especially for $7.50.
