PS1 DexDrive for PS2 Memory Cards?

Post by spiritplx »

I haven't been able to find much info on this, so forgive me if this has been discussed before. Here's my ultimate goal: use the PS1 DexDrive to put FMCB on a PS2 card.

I don't know many of the technical details of how the FMCB exploit works, but I'd imagine this could work one of two ways.

1) Use one of the custom applications that can interface with the DexDrive to move the proper FMCB files directly to the PS2 card inserted into the DexDrive.

2) Use the DexDrive to put the FMCB files on a PS1 card and transfer to a PS2 via the PS2's memory manager.

The first option seems much more likely, since the FMCB files might be too large for the PS1 card, or perhaps the file manager won't swap non-saved game files. It seems plausible that the DexDrive could read/write from/to PS2 cards with the right software, I'm just not sure what that software may be.

Anyhow, if anyone has any experience/knowledge about this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The DexDrive doesn't support magicgate encryption, so you're out of luck. It's also possible that it can't address 8MB memory, etc

You can install it with an official PS3 adapter though. Or get me to do it. Once you have a modded PS2 you can make as many installs as you want.
