I absolutely hate slipcovers on dvds/blu rays. 99 percent of the time, it's just a cardboard outer cover with the exact same art as the plastic case right underneath it, what's the point? I just take them off and leave just the cases on my shelf.
I've held onto them though. I have them stored in various places, but right now I'm wondering why I don't just throw them away. They just take up space, I can't imagine anybody actually wanting just the slipcases, and I doubt they'd make any of my movies more valuable if I sold them (and even then, I doubt I'd really care.)
...why am I holding onto them?

I have a image burned into my retinas of my hand petting my dog the last time, in his coffin with his eyes closed and dried up snot on his nose.

I feel you. I had to put my childhood dog and best friend down about 8 months ago and it was probably the worst time in my life. I'm still rather depressed by it and I probably always will be. I have a huge boner for animals in general and my dog was pretty much my only friend for the majority of my angry and bitter life. Digging the grave and piling the dirt on her isn't something I'm ever likely to forget and I regularly have both dreams and nightmares about her life and death to this day.SamuraiMegas wrote:I have a image burned into my retinas of my hand petting my dog the last time, in his coffin with his eyes closed and dried up snot on his nose.
The companionship and love a dog can offer is unlike anything in this world, and the best you can do after their passing is cherish everything you shared with them and look back on the time spent with them, and smile. The entire process is very difficult but worth it, dogs love the time they spend with us just as much as we love and dote on them. The term "man's best friend" couldn't be more true.

I've bought CDs that had slipcovers that were so damn tight I had to rip them off instead of sliding them off. I wonder if that's a common problem.AppleQueso wrote:I absolutely hate slipcovers on dvds/blu rays. 99 percent of the time, it's just a cardboard outer cover with the exact same art as the plastic case right underneath it, what's the point? I've never had to rip them off, but I do have some cds with seriously tight slipcases on them. Funny thing is I'm far more likely to hold onto cd slipcases... Probably helps that they're usually different from the disc art.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I've bought CDs that had slipcovers that were so damn tight I had to rip them off instead of sliding them off. I think the Slip Covers have something to do in Retail. Once a DVD is on the shelf so many days the store pulls the slip covers off for some sort of credit back to the vendor. I keep slip covers, actually go out of the way looking for them when picking thru a store rack. I once bought a slip cover for a buck at the Swap meet to make a DVD CIB. Even though the covers are identical to the inner cover in most cases, they look nice and shiny with embossed features on the cardboard. Only an extra step to slip off, its not like I will run the movie ten times. Now if it were a continually played game, I would leave the cover temporarily on the shelf where the game came from.AppleQueso wrote:I absolutely hate slipcovers on dvds/blu rays. 99 percent of the time, it's just a cardboard outer cover with the exact same art as the plastic case right underneath it, what's the point? Re: Random Thoughts Thread
So Super Mario 64 recently hit 5 million sold in NA alone. It's amazing that a DS launch game from 2004 is still in print and selling. Think about it: Halo 2 was less than two weeks old when it came out. RE4 was still on the horizon. Spongebob was still good. Facebook wasn't a thing.
