So I've been playing The Secret World. It's a horror fan's dream MMO.
Picture an MMO where instead of killing enemies you have to solve puzzles, investigate clues, hear the story and be completely wrapped around a in-game universe that combines horror literature and fiction (From both games and films) into one amazing experience. I even encountered a cameo from Jeffrey Combs.

Good luck with UGnG. It's the only GnG game that I personally genuinely dislike.alienjesus wrote:Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle are beaten. Haven't touched the rest.alienjesus wrote: I'll try to play:

Re: The MONTH OF HORROR 3: Season of the Dream Warriors
I don't know why I haven't really kept up with this thread.
Last weekend played some Luigi's Mansion, HOTD2 and Bram Stoker's Dracula with my wife. The first two are classics. The third, not so much, but I blogged about it here:

And I just recently got ahold of Blue Stinger and have intended to dig in and write about that one as well, but I've been oddly addicted to Mortal Kombat (the original one) the past few days. Go figure.

I've also found that I haven't been in the mood for horror lately. I've been playing a lot of Quantum Conundrum instead. I did play a little bit of Costume Quest recently though. That's a very entertaining Halloween themed game. It's more cute than scary though. It's currently 50% off for Rocktober along with every other Double Fine game across all platforms.

I've been playing both the original Castlevania as well as Castlevania: Bloodlines.
I love the original, but I can't get past Death. THE GAME IS PRETTY HARD, AM I RIGHT?
Bloodlines is awesome but with one major flaw: limited continues and a password system that remembers how many lives you have left. I'm paranoid about getting to the final level with one life and no continues. So I replay levels I could pass just because I die once or twice.
I'm glad modern gaming has generally gotten rid of the limited lives/continues system.

Re: The MONTH OF HORROR 3: Season of the Dream Warriors
Put a few hours into Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow tonight, and am going to play more after posting this. Waiting for my copy of Monster in My Pocket (NES) to arrive in the mail - hopefully tomorrow (errr... today), if I'm lucky. I have a lot of memories attached to that title.

Re: The MONTH OF HORROR 3: Season of the Dream Warriors
so yesterday my wife and I played these:
Atmosfear: The Harbingers - this is actually a VHS/board game that we found at a yard sale. It took us about an hour to set the game up and read thru the directions (3 times). Took about a half-hour to play. It's a bit overly-complicated, but fun nonetheless. Definitely amusing to have this cheesy VHS tape running while you're playing. (example footage: )
House of the Dead 2 - the DC version with controllers. More or less wanted to try this to see just how well it played without lightguns. Shit gets hard without lightguns! Have any of you ever gotten good at the controller method?
Blue Stinger - put an hour or more into this survival horror game. I was actually pretty impressed with it for a one-off title. I'm guessing it never caught on which is why there's no series? Anyway, cheesy and unique. I'm definitely planning to keep playing this for the month.
Gouls N Ghosts - once in a while we throw this in to see how much we suck. We suck a lot. I'm not sure I ever even got past the stupid tornado part. Jerks.
Castlevania - my wife really enjoyed the Chronicles remake on PS1, so I wanted her to try the original. She loved the music more than the Medusa heads. She wants to find the soundtrack now.
Exmortis - a fun point-n-click Flash game that she found. We ended up beating it in about an hour or so. Good stuff.

Oh man! I had a friend who owned a copy of it, but his Mom didn't like it and never let us play (it was eventually just thrown out). I played a bit of the DVD version in college, but the VHS version seems way cooler.noiseredux wrote:Atmosfear: The Harbingers - this is actually a VHS/board game that we found at a yard sale.
