What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Well CHRONICLE 2 has been pushed back because of Max's shitty script, but it looks like MORTAL KOMBAT is still looking at a 2013 release.

My interest in THE INCREDIBLE BURT WONDERSTONE is fading. My inner-monologue says "Steve carrell, yay! Jim Carrey, eh. Steve Buscemi, yay! Olivia Wilde, eh."

Is this the Mortal Kombat based on that weird serial killer short thing from a while back?

It isn't based on the short from what I know, rather the short was used in a pitch to show that the theater going audience is still interested in the MK franchise.

I'd watch another MK movie, why not.

I never saw the second one actually. But the first is really enjoyable. Me and my wife watched it over the Summer and we both thought it was a blast. It holds up much better than Street Fighter. SF you have to watch as a "so bad it's good" movie, but MK is actually pretty good.

You should watch the second one sometime... or not. It's bad, it's ooooooooooh so bad. It's so bad, in fact, that not even Christopher Lambert would return for it. Worth a watch at least once, but... man.

Mortal Kombat was a lot of fun, despite Raiden sounding like Dom Deluise. The acting was fairly terrible (sorry Miss Vaughn, still want to touch your hiney), but the movie delivered what it promised.

The Cage vs. Scorpion fight alone was worth the price of admission, and the soundtrack is still pretty badass. I may be in the minority, but I loved non-cgi Goro. He looked goofy as all get out, but he was almost a bit endearing as a seven foot puppet.

Hey I love that Goro too. :D

I miss effects work like that.

for some reason I remembered MK as being a much worse movie than it is. Really it just feels like a good goofy early 90's action flick. Certainly a better one than Street Fighter anyway. And actually Goro looked really awesome.

now this surprised me! DOA is actually a really fun movie. First off, I don't play fighting games for their plot. This movie seems to get that. The story is kept to a minimum, and what we get is a lot of fighting scenes. Perhaps not all are mind-blowing (Jaime Presley is not a martial artist of course) but there were some very impressive fights for such a low budget movie (namely ones involving Kasumi or Ryu). If you're a fan of good-bad movies, this is really one of them.
