Making progress. TV mounted, couch (cream, by the way) and console stand added.
Standard rotation of hardware installed: Roku, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Dreamcast, and a Japanese PS2. For the classic systems that will spend time on the shelf until played, I ran a couple plugs and added this to the setup:

Out of the chaos comes a tiny bit of order:

AV system and modern consoles are all good to go.
Also, plugged in and tested the svideo/composite to HDMI converter:
(amazon link)

I'm pleasantly surprised with the results. Here's a Genesis plugged in via composite:

A little bit noisy, but for a composite connection, I'll take it.

And here's a Dreamcast, via s-video. Much better!

The best thing about the converter is that with it mounted to the side of the cabinet, I can keep the older consoles on the shelf and it only takes a moment to plug em in whenever it's time to play.
Next steps: Mount the shelves, and start cleaning up.

Progress!

Bonus points to anyone that can name every piece of hardware currently sitting on the floating shelves.

Well on top looks like it could be a Famicom Disk System, but it doesn't look like even a repainted Famicom on top, then two PS1s. Maybe a Gen 2, 3 DCs, a Saturn, and an X' Eye. Atari 800 XE, Atari 400/800, and a black lump with a booklet on top.
