Any "Bright Lights/Effects/Neons" Game Recommendation?

Post by casterofdreams »

Hi y'all!

So I was browsing through my Steam Catalog and I've recently been into games with art styles like Geometry Wars. Not the genre that game represents but the bright lights, neon colors and the like.

Here are some games I have:

Light Fish
Edge
The Polynomial
Waveform
Waves

So I was wondering if anyone here has any recommendation for games that follow this style of art. It really wouldn't matter what genre (I don't think there are any RPGs that use this art form although I have been proven wrong). The platform of choice here is PC. Thanks in advance.

AAAAA! is a freakin' great game. I got 'em both and the one for the iOS platform.

Fractal, Audiosurf, Rush, and Everyday Shooter are other games that fit into what I'm looking for.

Osmos if you don't already have it. fl0w.

If you do have consoles to consider, Rez, Child of Eden, Fantavision, Every Extend Extra, Lumines, Pixeljunk sidescroller, maaaybe Pixeljunk Eden, offhand.

Protip: Geometry Wars mimics vector graphics, which were used in many old school arcade games. The vectors look like the wave in an oscilloscope, it's really cool in person, pictures and emulators don't do them justice.

I recommend you check out Tempest and Gravitar. Really cool games :)

Gridrunner: Revolution is a personal favorite.

Also, Tron 2.0 is pretty badass.

OOOH !!! NITRONIC RUSH! It's one of the best stunt racers out there and it's free.

Sp.A.I. is another freeware neon game I posted about here:

Also, the MMO Otherland might be up your alley. I haven't played it yet, but I love the visuals.

Beat Hazard and Osmos I will purchase when I get my new credit card. I lost my wallet within the last two days so I'll wait for the card to come in.

fl0w I played on PC for a long time until I picked it up on PSN through the PSP.

I don't think Otherland would seem enjoyable but holy crap Nitronic Rush looks amazing as hell!

I used to play Tempest at the arcades and Tempest 2000 on the PC also when I was a kid and my brother was into DOS on Windows. Those games are the reason why I am a fan of the style.

*Update* Nitronic Rush is amazing! That is all. Thank you J T.
