I'm playing Duke Nukem Forever. It has some of the most utterly sexist/mysoginistic moments I've ever witnessed in a videogame (and that's really saying something for anything within the same medium that spawned DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball), the humor is groan-worthy at almost every joke, and the whole thing is almost unbearably stupid. The gameplay is actually pretty good though and I'm close enough to the finish line that I think I'm just going to pass the game and then uninstall. The game is at its best when it's stealing from Half Life 2, it's desperate and mediocre when it's stealing from Call of Duty, it's thoroughly disgusting without any of the redeeming gameplay innovations when it's stealing from Prey, and it's utterly terrible garbage every time it tries to coast on the popularity of Duke Nukem 3D and manages to get it fully wrong every time. Or maybe it gets it right and these ideas are just stale so many years later.

I am the only person who enjoyed DNF it seems, bought the DLC and loved that too. The jokes were shit, but it was a fun to play!.

I started played Aliens vs Predators (2010) and its pretty enjoyable, feels pretty old school. The use of lighting is decent, I find it feels a bit cheap and clunky at times.

It does get the gameplay mostly correct, though things always feel just a little bit off. It's really clear that my favorite moments of DNF are ripping from Half Life 2 though (the scene where you're up high in the sky and crawling on alien tentacles is very much like the tense bridge scene in Half Life 2; and when you are driving around The Might Foot and have to stop in ghost towns, it's very much like Half Life 2's airboat levels).

These moments are fun, but their lack of originality is clear. I also think they steal things inappropriately. Duke's rechargeable Ego meter in place of a health bar is one of the few funny jokes of the game, but there isn't a fleshed out cover system like Call of Duty, where rechargeable health was popularized. Or the level inside the alien Hive, which is very much like Prey (sphincter doors and all), but it doesn't have Prey's cool disorienting gameplay elements of shifting gravity and moving through portals.

I enjoy the gameplay for moments at a time, but the story and characters are so bad that it detracts from the game as a whole.

I saw nothing wrong with its HL2/FEAR styled design in the later bits. After the crappy start at the hotel, I thought the game was fun as heck. Awesome boss battles, awesome weapons, awesome everything.

You're not alone emwearz!

AvP (2010) on the other hand, I completely hated. haha

The alien campaign was the only one I liked, and it was like 2 hours long.

Predator campaign is super frustrating, because you're forced into playing stealth pretty much and super underpowered for being a damn PREDATOR!

First game was a lot better I'd say.

Screwed up my no-murder run of Dishonored because I killed a dog at the end of the mission. Decided I don't care; I'm going for no-murder from the perspective of not killing people. Plus, this was a kill I didn't need to make (was more of a "just to be safe" and didn't want to waste the sleep bolt).
