Help. Dreamcast 2nd player controller port not working.
The second controller port on my Dreamcast isn't working, even though the VMU sound does beep when I plug in a controller. I might have blown the fuse with a Mad Catz controller but I'm not really sure, since the 1st port does work fine with it. Do use the resistor fix or find another way?

There's only one fuse, so they'd all be dead if you'd blown it. Even if you had, the correct way to fix it would be with another fuse. Perhaps there's a dirty contact or the port was yanked and there's a broken solder joint.

hi angryrider , check the Controller Ports Ribbon Cable to see if it is corroded and also check where the Ribbon Cable meets the Controller Ports and Motherboard.
Ive heard that 3rd Party Controllers sometimes cause corroding , i once had a broken Dreamcast given to me and the Ribbon Cable , Motherboard and Controller Ports were corroded.
I replaced everything and it works fine now.................

on some controlers the tip of it is messed up. Check your controler.
I had one that with one little movement the controler's vmu would beep and reset itself.
When I was on the VMU memory screen sometimes it wouldn't even show up. I had to move or jiggle the controler. The VMU would beep and the controler would be recognized.
Find another controler or switch both of them and see if port 2 isn't messed up.
Lets hope its just a wonky controler.

It's not the controller, it's definitely the port.

If you can get your hands on a system that won't read switch the ports then you will be good as new it is very easy to do. I know if you unplug controllers while the system is on it can blow a port. Can you open it up and post a picture i can check my parts stock and see if i have a compatible set for you.
