Still, I wish I had one of those inferior TVs with 60Hz games when I was younger...

Never understood why Sonic was so popular until I played it in 60Hz...

Nope. Wii cables don't contain that special chip needed.

IIRC a digital audio mod hasn't been found for Wii either.

I own both Mega Drive and Sega Genesis and PAL and NTSC copies of Sonic 2 and got them hooked up in my European TV that can play both 50HZ and 60HZ and I cant really tell the difference between the two. Am I blind or what's the problem?
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Maybe Sonic 2 is one of the few PAL optimized games then...

Try the first Sonic game. There's no way you won't be able to tell the difference...

I only have a NTSC copy of Sonic 1 so I cant test it out but I found this 50/60 hz Sonic 1 comparison video. All the hz comparison videos in youtube seem to be about Sonic 1 so I guess it's safe to assume that they optimized the later Sonic games as the franchise became popular?

Sonic 1 is not optimized, Sonic 2 I have no idea, Sonic 3 is optimized...

Did they really optimize any Megadrive games? I thought they didn't start doing that till the Saturn. I seem to remember all of my MD being condensed (black borders) and slower (including the Sonic games).

Edit: Nevermind, Google says there are indeed pal optimised mega drive games and sonic 2 is one of them.

I did enjoy the slower music, but not the black borders.

If you have an HDTV there is a huge quality difference! My Wii looks MUCH better with 480p component cables.
