Mega Man Legends 2… how much of a cliffhanger is the ending?

Post by Zing »

No spoilers, please.

I've read in several articles that the ending to Mega Man Legends 2 feels unfinished, or strongly points to a sequel. I'd like to know just how much of this is true. Is it "well, this could easily lead to a sequel", or is it "uh, was that the ending… I guess it's explained in another game"?

For example, I read that the Threads of Fate ending strongly pointed to a sequel. I finished it myself (with both characters) and while the story definitely appears to be open to a sequel, in no way did I feel the ending was incomplete. The ending felt natural.

If there is a better place to post this, let me know. I still don't understand why the site clumps the PSone subforum with Xbox 360.

Easily the former. While there are larger things in the Legends universe that aren't resolved, the current crisis and circumstances you've been presented with wrap themselves up.

Spoilers....

Megaman Trigger goes to the moon to fight the boss. Megaman Trigger beats the boss. Megaman Trigger has no way to get off the moon.

Roll credits.

Oh and you also find out that Megaman Trigger is a copy / clone of a robot that was probably Megaman X. That was kinda important, too. Pretty much all of Megaman Zero is alluded to as well.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Thanks. From what I had read on GameSpite and other places, it gave me the impression that the game basically had no real ending and virtually required a sequel to get closure.

I can guess what they were referring to, Flake mentioned it with minor spoilers. Essentially Mega Man is stuck somewhere at the end of the game and doesn't know how to get home. I wouldn't consider it an incomplete ending though, because the arc that takes place in Legends 2 comes to completion. We saw a brief introduction to what would go on to be the next arc, which of course never happened.

I really hate legends 2 ending. Its one of the biggest trollings ever, especially after legends 3 got cancelled. It would be nice if we got closure especially since Legends takes place at the end of the Mega man timeline.

Yeah. It's a weird place to have dropped the ball like that considering how careful they were to drop so many hints and references in the Megaman Zero and ZX games.

The sad truth is that Capcom simply doesn't care. We had our chance back when the prototype was coming out, but they (the higher-ups) decided to pay Inafune back for leaving the company and trash-talking them by cancelling his dream game. Big kick in the balls, and it affected every single Legends fan in the process.

Really, people can say whatever they want for why Legends 3 got cancelled, but I know now that the moment Inafune left the project was doomed.

Also, if Capcom WERE to go and begin work on Legends 3 now, they'd probably scrap a lot of what was made in the Devroom and just make it all internal development.
